I was hoping those who have researched med schools and the MSAR could help me out. I am applying to my state schools, as well as D.O. schools, and I wanted to get some suggestions on which allopathic schools I should apply to with lower stats. I am non-traditional, non-science major, lots of volunteer time, 1 research project, lots of clinical (paramedic), worked full time through undergrad, good LOR's, but I had a bad junior year that ruined my GPA. I graduated this year and I am going to LECOM post bac during my glide year. Overall 3.35, BCPM 3.13. With my grades, I am a long shot as it is for allopathic, and I do not have a lot of money, so I want to just apply to 4 or 5 schools besides my state schools that I have a reallistic shot at getting looked at. Please list your suggestions, and thanks!

Saint George's and the Osteopathic schools.

Do you have an MCAT score yet?

Unless there is something amazing in your ap (curing AIDS), it is going to be very difficult to get into any of the above MD schools with a 3.35/27. I second Jalby's advice.

I appreciate that you want to save me money by telling me not to try, but I was not asking what my chances are, and I think my application is pretty damn amazing. I just wanted to know which schools would be the wisest choices to spend my money on. Thanks for the encouragement though!! 😀

check out mdapplicants.com
I've seen some miracles posted with your mcat/gpa

Your ECs sound pretty solid. Good luck. 😳

What about doing the MCAT again in August? If you can get over a 30 with a 3.3 and all the EC's you should be OK - right everyone? I can't say enough good things about the EK prep books/method....

I'm sure you have a decent chance at your state school and the ones listed above. Good luck!
