Just curious as to the lowest grade on you guys transcripts while in undergrad, since you all have got into medical school!!!

A couple of big, fat, juicy Fs earned (or actually not earned) back in the early eighties.

A C- in BioStatistics. Yes, that's correct. I was so wrapped up in my senior project (not to mention my g/f) that I just didn't go to the class. Missed a few quizzes and I don't think I did any h/w after the second week of class. The C is actually kind of impressive in retrospect.

The best part is that the class was at 1:30 in the afternoon, so I wasn't even sleeping in.

C in History 101 and Anthropology 201. Basically because I hated the classes so I just quit going. Poor decision

Got a 2.0 in biochem.... had to talk about it in the interview. Explained to the interviewer that I had my senior design project for chemical engineering, as well as 2 other really tough senior CHE classes that semester. Told him: "Basically, I put biochemistry on the back burner and focused on the classes I'd need to graduate in my major." 🙄

C in calculus ( i was lucky to get that). A to a C on the final of physicII (electricity, magnets..etc).
so 2 c's
a few b's
rest a's

My transcript had every color of the rainbow (A-F).

D in basic genetics, took the class again got a A- in second year.

I had a 2.6 that first year.

Ugly times, yet I was enjoying my stay at the tavern.

noncestvrai

Several "F's" in the early/mid-90's.

Finished w/ 2.6...earned a Masters...got in.

To those that took "F's"...I'm wondering how they affected you and what you did to overcome them being on the transcript...

I took an "F" in a Chem. course mostly because of a personal grudge with a prof that I thought I would prove something to...and he almost took pleasure in the fact that I bombed the final the day after a family member's funeral....

Anyway...my own stupid 19 year old ignorance/arrogance earned me that one, but I'm wondering how to over come it, and a couple of C's in areas I shouldn't have gotten C's...

almost 10 years later.

Had a C- first sem Orgo, C second sem Orgo.... yeah I liked Orgo a lot!

C+ in second semester Orgo. C+ or B- (can't remember at this point) in Biochem. Yeah...I suck at chemistry. Otherwise A's and B's, cumulative 3.4 or so overall.

I had 4-5 F's my freshman year and was put on scholastic dismissal for a semester. I had a perfect 4.0 after that though and a 37 MCAT.

I just found out 1 hour ago that I earned an F in a 1996 orgo lab class that I thought I dropped during a summer course at another university. Apparently my lecture was successfully dropped, and I stopped going to both, and yet this hideous grade is showing. I took an English class for summer session II, but never transferred that credit. It's only now that I'm applying to med school, and having them send my transcript to AMCAS that I found out.

I'm currently petitioning with the Dean (god, i'm praying it goes well) to get it off my transcript. :luck:

My F's, D's, and C's obviously didn't do much to help my GPA. I finished my last 60 or so hours in the 3.7 range to finish with a 2.6 overall upon graduation.

It really just depends on where your overall GPA is IMO. If you have some bad grades from 10 years ago but manage to finish strongly and with some semblance of a respectable GPA (over 3.0) then you might have a chance.

I thought it unlikely I'd get the time of day from any school w/ a 2.6 and why should I? Your GPA is about being willing to do the work.

After finishing a Masters and doing well I was immediately accepted to multiple schools...

By the way, I'll turn 33 in June but who really cares?
Good luck.

B- in first quarter general chem.

Thanks...I actually have 27 hours or so of stuff I plan to take (pre-reqs and a retake or 2) before matriculation (at this point), but the highest I'm gonna make it to is about a 3.2 if I'm lucky..

What will help me for DO schools is if I can replace that F in Chem II with an A...and a C in Genetics to an A...

I'm still kicking myself for not dropping that class and instead trying to "prove something" to the prof...

C in both semesters of gen chem w/As in labs, C in analytical chem, C- in orgo I, C in orgo II, As in both of those labs. Retook both semesters of orgo, got in.

I have 7 F's, 3 D's, and 15 W's on my transcripts. Replaced some of them. Got a 25 MCAT. If it wasn't for my 2-day-a-week ER volunteer time, I would have never gotten in.

C- in biochem, C in biology, C in psychology, C+ in theory of interest, and C+ in genetics. yeah, I don't know why wayne accepted me. and I wasn't even on the waiting list, and no I am not a minority applicant
And ddmoore, you're the man, I knew some kids in our class had to be smart. but you are no $@%^, you know the person who kept on getting perfect scores in every one of our classes

Where are you at/going?

I go to University of Oklahoma school of medicine.

Thanks for the feedback guys

I got a nice fat D in calculus...guess I had it stuck in my head I knew math after getting a math scholarship...guess not

And yea, they asked about it in interviews

pshaw... I earned plenty of C's in undergrad: differential equations, bio II, bio lab II, organic chemistry I, and anatomy. I also go a C in scanning electron microscopes as a graduate student. That still didn't stop me from getting in.

A- (one)

1 F in grad school (never once went to the class). I was already accepted.

One C in history in undergrad

successfully wiped off without a trace. now my lowest is a C- in gen chem from 10 yrs ago.

F

Got that on a Navigation Law class, but since none of my interviewers had any clue what that class was it was hard for them to ask about....in fact I was never asked about it a single time at the five interviews I had. Also had a C or two, I think one was in Marine Safety (firefighting) freshman year and the other one was in a gen chem class. Again no one asked.

Two Fs in the same class! 😱 I don't even remember enrolling in it the second time.

My freshman year I earned 2 C's. One, I honestly can't recall what the course was or why I slacked so much.

The other was in Anthrolpogy, which met at 8AM, I was always running late and the prof literally foamed at the mouth. Then he would jerk his head to the side and spray the entire front row (ie the latecomers). Since I was too spoiled to get out of bed on time and I didn't want a spit shower, I skipped class and barely earned a C.

3 Cs and 1 D frosh year...The D was in Calc II, 2 C+s in gen chem (B- in 3rd quarter) and the third C in the 2nd out of 3 ochems...Bs and As in the others
......Now applying w/ 3.55 cum and 3.43 science...Obviously a lot of A's after that 🙂 Still feel sketchy but hoping for the best and applying DO too. But just to say that you can bounce back. 🙂

C one semester of Physics. I had to get an 11 on the Physical Science section on the MCAT and a Master's degree before I got in though. Good luck!

C in a math class freshman year of ugrad. As a matter of principle I refuse to expand my knowledge of calculus beyond basic derivatives and integrals...

C- in Organic chem I over a 6 week mini semester during the summer. It was a 4 credit class too but I retook it in the fall and got an "A" and then into medical school so as long as you do well overall you can afford a little slack.
