For anyone applying to Loyola...How definite is the deadline that they give for returning their secondary? I've been extraordinarily busy over the past few weeks and haven't been able to complete it -- my due date is tomorrow.

I applied several weeks ago as my due date was Sept 3. It stated on the cover letter that if your application is not returned by the due date, then they consider you no longer interested in their school. The letter also stated that if you needed an extension, then you should write a letter requesting for more time.

If I were you, I would complete it tonight and send it in tomorrow, and call the admissions office informing them that you recently sent the application...it depends on if you want to go there or not.

my due date was sept 5th,
i mailed it in today via express mail.

I applied to Loyola last year and I got the impression they were very serious about their deadlines. I was accepted and planned to go there until I got off another waitlist, but they had deadlines on everything including information about my parents on the financial aid app. I missed the latter deadline by a couple days and their attitude was like "tough $h!t" That deadline business was the one thing that I really didn't like about that school. They only give you a month to get together all this crap and send it back to them.

my due date is also sept. 5th, and i sent it express mail on the 3rd. they attempted to deliver it today, but weren't able to. anyways, i called the admissions office to let them know that my app was on its way and might not make it by the 5th, and the lady told me that they actually give all the applicants a 2 week grace period before they close our files. so no worries.

From the horse's mouth:
---------------------
Please take special note of the instructions given for completion of thStritch School of Med Supplemental Applicantion (#3 on yellow sheet). In order for your application to receive furher consideration, a printed copy of your supplemental application must be submitted to our admissions office along with your aplication fee and enclosed recommendation inventory form (green sheet) no later than Sept 9, 2002 (due date). Ideally, letters of recommendation should also rech our office within the same time frame. We do realize, however, that applicants are not always able to have all letters submitted on on their behalf by this date. Please notify our office (in writing) if you anticpate that you will need more than a two week extension (for any of your letters of recommendation) beyond the date postd above.

I believe the two week grace period is for LORs only. Not supplemental app.

the lady i spoke with seemed pretty clear that the grace period was for the application, not just the rec letters. she said that as long as my application was in the next few days, i would be fine.
