I did a practice test for comlex step 2 and one of the questions mentions a healthy 16 year old sexually active female (uses condoms) who gets a pap and the result is LGSIL-the question is what is the management? Ive looked up online and it says that <21 you can do HPV testing and F/U with the results, however Im not sure if this is correct? (the other answer choice is cone biopsy) Anyone have any thoughts?

I think that that is correct. I believe that young women are more likely to clear the HPV infection and less likely to advance to HSIL/CIS so the management is HPV testing + f/u pap in 6 mos. I think the other most likely choice would be colposcopy with biopsy but I'm pretty sure it's not called cone biopsy (although I could be wrong, I thought cone biopsy was one treatment for HSIL and LEEP was the other).

I think UW says repeat Pap in one year for <18 with LSIL...
