LSU Status Update

Aww, that sucks 🙁 I was rejected in the first wave last year as well.

I did a bit better this year (got to the next stage) but who knows beyond that. Never been to this point with them.
 
i made it to the top 150 as well...what does this mean?

ETA - Top 150 OOS, not total.

I guess they review us and decide if they want to interview us.

I wonder if there's a Top 100 and Top 50 as well?

I wonder how many of those 150 they grant interviews to?

The out of state gpa's from last year are soooo high though.... my gpa is good but not that good. It seems my actual chances of getting in arent looking so hot.

don't count yourself out. they are reviewing the files of the final 150 oos applicants extensively...there's more to an applicant than gpa (and hopefully gre). that's why there are other components like experience, personal statement, areas of focus, and essays!!
 
Did anyone else's Last 45 Credit Hour GPA and Required course GPA go from filled-in to "TBA" on the LSU Application Status page when they were notified about making it into the "top 150"? My GPA's were correctly entered in that area as of a few days ago, and now they're gone :/

mine went to TBA as well.
 
I totally know what you mean about the last class's gpa thing, they are soooo much higher than a lot of the other schools and that makes me nervous because mine is okay but not great:/ I made it into the top 150 but I'm not sure my GPA is enough to sustain me🙁 my gpas also turned to TBA too, btw...anyway...good luck to everyone!!!!!!

I thought this was a good guess, but their website says:

"Fall '09 coursework will count towards the Required Course GPA and Last 45 Credit Hour GPA for Louisiana and Arkansas residents only. Fall '09 credit hours and grades will NOT be used in GPA calculations for Out of State applicants."

Since I'm OOS, they shouldn't be recalculating anything (although I wish they would include this semester's grades)!

So I'm new to the whole forum thing but I was reading them throughout the application process and now that I have received my first rejection for LSU I figured I should join to get in on the rejection/interview/acceptance chats lol. I'm not upset at all cause it wasn't one of my top choices and I still have 9 other schools to hear from. Plus last year I applied to seven school and didn't get a single interview... so it can only get better this year.... right? lol 😛

Oh good you're back. So did anyone else have their GPAs go back from TBA to the aforementioned values? Wonder if they just recalculated them or something?
 
I received this email from LSU today at 3:05 PM, PST:

"I hope you had a wonderful holiday break and are ready for all that may lie ahead in 2010. I wanted to let you know that we are working diligently to complete all of the folder reviews, and we expect to make the decisions on interview invitations on Friday, January 15th. (The invitations will go out Friday afternoon/evening.) . . . Later this week, we will be sending out more specific interview information to those applicants who are invited for an interview."

Just wanted to keep all those other LSU-hopefuls in the loop 😉
 
Just checked and got the same e-mail.

That's an evil e-mail subject too. "Status of Interview Invite", urgh.
 
Tomorrow's the day. Just got this e-mail:
.I know you are eagerly awaiting notification from the LSU SVM regarding interview invitations. We are diligently working on the final folder reviews and the Admissions Committee will be meeting tomorrow to make decisions on interview invitations for Out of State residents. Please frequently check the LSU SVM Online Status Check system, as it should be updated by tomorrow evening (Jan. 15th), with your application status indicating whether you are being invited for an interview. .
. .
.Please note that the date for interviews for Out of State residents is February 6th. This is also the date that the LSU SVM Open House is being held. The Admissions Committee will be making decisions on the interview invitations tomorrow, so I am hoping to be able to at least let you know by tomorrow evening (Friday, Jan. 15th) whether or not you will be invited for an interview. Then on Tuesday or Wednesday (Feb. 19th or 20th), you will receive your specific interview time as well as more information to help you prepare for the interview. There will also be a welcoming reception on Friday night (Feb. 5th) during which Dean Joe Taboada and I will help answer any questions you may have about the interview process. (More information about the Welcoming Reception and Open House will be sent out to you if you are granted an interview.)

Yah I just went to check my e-mail, then my status page, and nothing has changed. Then I came here to see what others were doing lol.

Wonder if they missed their deadline or are still there.

When I log in to LSU Status page, it is saying:

"CGI Error

The specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of HTTP headers."


Maybe they are updating it now!!!!
 
Thanks guys. I love SDN because everyone is soooo supportive! When I feel like this process is gonna make me pull all my hair out all I have to do is log on here and know all of you are in the same boat.

Rileyroo I am crossing my fingers for you!! I made it off the alternate interview list at VMRCVM so its def possible!

I'm an alternate as well. Gonna call on Monday and see if they can tell me which number in the 150 I am. If it's terribly high I'm just gonna forget about it.
 
Congrats to those with interviews! I am pleased to say I was invited to one as well 😀

With that good news comes a bit of anxiety about traveling to and from the school . . . Has anyone done hotel research yet?

I don't drive (pathetic, I know), and I'd rather not pay for multiple taxi rides, so, has anyone come across a hotel that offers a free shuttle service between the airport and LSU?

Any information would be much appreciated 😍

Don't give up Ag. Other my decline their interview b/c they have been accepted elsewhere!
 
On the update page it said the highest they've ever gone was 113, so if your rank is beyond that, well.....


Anyone know how many people they interview in total? Or a rough guesstimate? I would think twice the seats they have but maybe even as many as 60-80?



Kind of bummed out about not getting an interview with them lol. I had fantastic GPAs by their calculations! Only time I'll ever have 3.7s me thinks heh.
 
I think alot of schools actually offer admission to about twice the number of OOS students as they have spots because so many people choose to go to their IS school if they gain admission there. So I'd go sar far as to Guess they may interview up to like 90 or 100 OOS'ers. Idk how many people they leave as alternates another school I applied to left 15 people as alternates for interviews.
 
I'm on the alternate list, also. We'll see how things shape up. Congrats to all those who got an interview!!! 🙂

HopefulAg, I am in the same boat as you!!🙁 I was thinking about calling as well, please let the rest of us hopefuls know whether or not they will give out rankings if you do wind up calling!!
 
I received an email today saying they don't disclose numbers or placement for the alternates list.
