Guys, I am going over entier General Chemistry, and I forgot when I use M1V1 = M2V2 equation.
Could someone explain this to me? I want to understand how this formula was made instead of just memorizing M1V1 = M2V2.

Its used with titrations of acids and bases. For example, 20 mL of 5M NaOh is titrated with 3M HCl. How much mL of HCl is needed to reach the equivalence point (the titration to be complete).

Use the Formula:

M1V1:M2V2

5M NaOH (20mL)= XmL (3M HCl)

solve for x
