I do agree.. I don't believe in a second chance for cheaters and incomp.. But...... there are many schools who over except and drop students by weeding them out before graduation. Weeding out because they know they over excepted and don't have enough room for them in clinics... I know a few dentists who are phenomical, but made the wrong choice initially and eventually went on to another school and was in the top of their class.... The cirriculum, faculty and administration is everything....

OMG, that is freaking scary.12YearOldKid said:We have one girl at my school who was supposed to graduate in 2002 or 2003 -- can't remember which -- but she is still in the clinic trying to graduate. I swear I am not making this up.
I don't know what the school is thinking letting her hang around so long. What's scary is that one day she's probably going to get out and be working WITHOUT supervision.

This may be a different situation. Repeating a year is entirely different from not getting your requirements completed on time. About 5-10% of each class at my school graduated late because they couldn't get their requirements finished on time. And this generally has nothing to do with how good or bad of a student you are....it depends on things out of your control, like whether or not your patients tend to show up. Each patient who doesn't show up wastes your day and puts you another day closer (or past) graduation day to finish your requirements.12YearOldKid said:We have one girl at my school who was supposed to graduate in 2002 or 2003 -- can't remember which -- but she is still in the clinic trying to graduate. Yeah, we've got a 5th-year sophomore at IUSD. I'm not going to comment on her circumstances and how legit they may or may not be, but she started dental school when my classmates & I were sophomores in college, and now we're further along than she is.12YearOldKid said:We have one girl at my school who was supposed to graduate in 2002 or 2003 -- can't remember which -- but she is still in the clinic trying to graduate.
