I was hired to work at CVS during the summer and have been working there but then in the fall I start school. I heard there is a minimum amount of hours I have to week every week to maintain my status as an employee so that I won't be terminated. Does anyone know if this is true?

No. I think you only have to work once a month to stay on their payroll. You have to work so many hours for benefits, vacation time, etc...

I think it's once or twice a month. I know plenty that work only twice a month just to retain their status. If you do have to leave for any reason though, be sure they put you on a "school leave" so that when you come back you don't have to train all over again.

Do the requirements vary by state? I live in New York.

One shift per month. If you are going to school out of state, you can apply for a leave of absence and your status will be held until you return next summer.

I've heard once every 5 weeks. Your store manager can actually give you a specific date that you will "fall out of the computer as an active employee."

If you take a leave of absence, known as a "return to school leave," you will have to technically be re-hired when you want to start working again which can take anywhere from 2-6 weeks. (I just got paid for the 4th of July)
