Hi,

I just got back my MCAT and scored a 509. I have a 3.35 cGPA, 3.30 sGPA. California ORM. I have roughly 125 Clinical hours, 30 Shadowing, 150 Non-clinical volunteering. I also have a DO letter of rec.

I am applying all DO, and working on my apps now for this cycle. Not sure where to apply and how many schools.
Thank you so much in advance and let me know if should provide additional info.

@Faha and @Goro

You are competitive for all DO schools with your stats and I suggest these:
WESTERN
TUCOM-CA
TUNCOM
AZCOM
ATSU-KCOM
KCU-COM
DMU-COM
MU-COM
ACOM
UIWSOM
PCOM
LECOM
CUSOM
VCOM (all schools except Monroe)
NYITCOM
Touro-NY
WVSOM

I'm curious why uiwcom, it's heavily IS biased.

@Faha

What do you think about Western Lebanon campus, ATSU in Arizona, and California Health Sciences? Also was Lecom both campuses or just the main one?
I have 19 schools from the ones you listed.

I agree with the wise Faha. OP, also consider WCU, NYITCOM-AR, WVSOM and KYCOM

Western and ATSU Arizona are fine as well as all LECOM schools (except Elmira which is new). California Health Sciences is also new so has no track record for matching graduates to residencies.

@Faha and @Goro,

Some of these schools require a letter from a physician Ive shadowed. I have a DO letter from a physician whom I have not shadowed but knows me on a personal level. Is this a deal breaker, should I not apply to those schools? I can get a letter from the doctor I have shadowed but that would take a few weeks.

Contact the schools and ask them

My DO letter was also a more personal relationship. This was and issue for me for Western. I ended up withdrawing my app. ACOM initially said it was an issue then later accepted it.

Hi @Faha and @Goro ,

I thought I would update you guys. All three VCOMS I have applied to in late October still have not sent me a secondary. I emailed recently and was told my app was still in pre-screening stages. I called even more recently, and they informed me that since I am an "out of target" applicant due to being from California, the minimum GPA is a 3.5 cgpa/sgpa. Unfortunately this was never stated on their homepage on AACOMAS but rather 3.2 was the stated as the cuttoff. They told me with a 3.3 I was highly unlikely to receive a secondary even with my good MCAT score.

Just thought I would inform you guys.

I applied to all the schools you mentioned mostly in November with a couple early December due to score release for my Casper. I have only one interview so far. Is this a bad sign?
