hi there peoples... need help with making my ROL
my stats:
from mid-range MD school
I, 210s,
II 240s
top 25% of class
extracurric's outstanding

love 3 schools:
1) my home school
mid-rank, southern US med school w/ solid academic program, everyone loves me there, life would be easier than next 2. fellowship match rare.

2)HOPKINS
great name, everyone seems nice, excellent education with emphasis on training trainers of the future. eh on baltimore living.

3)EINSTEIN in BRONX
excellent training training as far as i can tell with great PD and perfect balanace of training as far as i can tell. nyc living would be fun but expensive but id be working inthe bronx.

I want to be an academic physician, very interested in fellowship, have no ties to any specific area. Am even considering taking a year off to learn spanish! (if so, i better do it quick!) ANY advice appreciated!
THANKs!

if you are that interested in academic medicine, then i would have to say that picking hopkins or einstein would be the way to go. i mean, i don't know anything about your own program, but you yourself said that fellowship match is rare.

i actually really LOVED the hopkins program, too, but i think that baltimore may be too radical for me.

i think that einstein may be one of the best places in the country for clinical training at an academic program in terms of breadth of OB/Gyn and also autonomy of the residents. but it is also a really tough, NYC-style program, and they work damn hard, and after a long day have to deal with commuting back to the their apt's in manhattan since the area around the hospital is not a fun place to live. although i agree that the pd seemed absolutely awesome.
