Is it just me, or do you guys find that it is very difficult to make time to sufficiently study for your science classes? I have 17 units with two of my classes being 5 unit classes.

I try to get 8 hours of sleep most nights... and I don't really have a social life, and I hardly watch any television.

Am I just not good enough?

It seems to me ur trying to get As in your classes.... If thats really the case then your doing everything good enough.

no you're not alone. I feel the same way, but the way I see it is if I put this much time in and don't get an A, at least I tried my hardest and there wasn't much else I can do. Some things come really easy to certain people, those of us who aren't that lucky have to work our butts off. It's just the way it is.

On a side note, I'm not saying don't try so hard, but do something else. Coming from experience, if all you do is study and don't do something for yourself every once in awhile you'll be burnt out by the time you get into dental school. Luckily I got my news before the start of the spring semester so I can take it a little easier (although still have to keep a decent GPA) and have found myself going out and doing stuff for me more often, and I feel so much better when I sit down to study.

my social life sucks. but i guess that's what I have to do. I know some others who can manage their studies and have a great social life. But for me, I'm not the most brilliant dude, and I NEED to get A's to boost my gpa, so unfortunately I'm a bookworm. Oh when will this end? I'm so whoanleyyy 🙁, especially after the 14th:bang:

I agree I am taking14 credit hours. Its 3 science based classes with labs. I work about 20 hours a week and commute an hour each way to school. I don't have a social life.

Don't worry guys it only get more difficult once your in school and taking 30 semester hours a semester. So do the best you can and try to find the most efficient way to study. When push comes to shove you are going to have to find a way or you get left behind.

+1

Its only going to get A LOT harder. Especially dschool. If you're complaining that school is hard now in undergrad, I don't know how you're going to feel in dschool. And who gets a decent 8 hours of sleep in college anyways? Dschool breeds sleep deprivation too so be prepared! Lol

I think you need to find a more efficient way to study if you are having trouble managing time. I know all schools are different, but I usually took around 18-20 credit hours and still managed to have a social life and enjoy weekends. Figure out where most of your time is going and see if you can cut out some time in some spots.

Oh, if I get into dental school, I will be happy to be super stressed and have no life, because well, I'm in...

I was just wondering if it was just me... thanks

👍

I don't know if it's OP's studying method or my study habits that are terrible. I can't really recall much studying in my undergrad, which might explain my GPA and the overabundance of time...🙁

Don't worry! I'm right there with you! I study from the time I get out of class, until about 11:00 at night. I live in the library, and don't have much of a social life either. But I always remind myself that it WILL pay off in the end 🙂 Currently have a 4.0 and plan on trying my hardest in keeping it that way! You can do it!!!

Try to find time to do a bit of stuffs. I agree with other. Don't get burnt out. It only get harder from here. It's normal to feel tired because of the course load though.

Lowering your GPA in exchange for building social skills isn't a bad idea. Interviews are a big part of getting in, and it is apparent if someone has bad people skills.

Having some fun doesn't mean your GPA will bomb, but don't just stay in a library all day every day. You need to experience college as well.

I agree! I took average 16-18 credit hours on top of a full time job with a baby and husband and still got a 4.0 the last 5 semesters of undergrad. I didn't feel like I didn't have a life. It's all about the quality not quanity of study time. D school is gonna be a challenge for you if you are struggling with undergrad🙁
