Does anyone know the amounts of mal practice ins. the various types of physicians have to dish out? what types of doctors pay the most in the long run, taking into consideration their salary and their mal practice ins. ?

What about physician assistants? Do they pay mal-practice ins. too?

..eh..people sue in uncontrolable amounts these days...

Can't speak for all specialties but it is my understanding that OBgyns and Neurosurgeons have the highest rates... some as high as 200 K per year.

Physician assistants, nurses, physical therapists, nurse practioners all pay for malpractice insurance but have much better rates... nurses generally around a hundred bucks a year for 1mil/3mil policy.

Rates vary tremendously by state and county.
Among the worst : Florida,PA,WV,Nassau County NY,
Much lower rates :Wisconsin.MN
Highest rates Surgical specialties and OBGYN
Lower: Psych.Neurology,Peds,Derm,Path etc
Internal Med has been fairly low but rising rapidly in some places.
