Male contraceptives?

I am an incoming pharmacy student (P1) . I have been bored lately so I picked up The molecular interventions april 2007 volume 7 issue 2 journal. I was reading about all the research being conducted on male contraceptive. My question is which drugs are currently offered to men as a form of contraceptive. In this journal scientist were trying to figure out why 10 % of men were not receptive to male contraceptive(not condoms). The current method of contraceptive according too the article, said that men are given an increased level of testosterone and this inhibits the LH and FSH hormone which in turn prevents signals from being released in the pituatary gland. This inhibits the production of sperm. This method is hormonal based. I was just curious how can we get at least 98.5 of guys to respond well too male contraceptives?

I remember my sexuality and health prof told the class when I was an undergrad. The reason why there aren't male contraceptives is because WE LIE!! It's terrible but think about it. If a guy misses a pill one day and sees a really hot girl and has a chance to go all the way. There's no way he'd admit to not taking his pill unless he's got some godlike morals.

There are no male contraceptive pills available at this time here in America. I know that France is doing some research in this field. Should be interesting to see where this leads...

I'm a strong believer that men don't HAVE to put the toilet seat down. When it's down, we need to put it up. When it's up, you guys put it down. I don't complain about girls not putting it up, why should they complain about us not putting it down?

Man, you're a little freaky-deeky ain't you??? As a man, lots of things are appealing involving sex, none of which include risk...whether it be the risk of getting a girl pregnant or worrying about a pus dripping out of my junk in a couple days....but hey, to each his own.

Okay so since this is a pharmacy forum, if you increase the testosterone levels you're subsequently going to increase the amount of DHT and estradiol...how are we going to not have male pattern baldness, bph/prostate ca, or fat titties wait i mean gynecomastia?!

BTW, there shouldn't be a double standard re: dudes not taking the pill and lying...like women are sticklers and never forget to take the pill ever. Although some of my friends literally set a cell phone alarm everyday to take it...them i *might* trust.

fair point. men are not the only "guilty" parties....women sometimes "forget"
