Malpractice insurance

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I used to have a long-term moonlighting/locums gig that I set up by directly contacting a group. No locums company middleman. I carried my own malpractice policy through thedoctors.com for about 8 years. Was happy with them.

If you follow the White Coat Investor, and believe that he thoroughly vets all his sponsors and affiliate links (he says he does), then perhaps you could use the sole malpractice provider he endorses on his website. I've never tried myself, but I've had good luck using a couple other affiliates from his site. This one is called "The Doctors Insurance Agency"... not sure if the same as pgg referenced, but the url's are different.

He seems like a trustworthy kind of guy. He even posts here regularly

Stupid question, how do you ensure they have actually secured the insurance for you?

Ask who the insurance provider is (it's something you are entitled to know), then call them yourself and verify your coverage.

This is something you should absolutely do anytime you are concerned whether your coverage is as it's supposed to be, i.e., if an employer agreed to buy tail coverage at the end of your time with them, or if there are any irregularities with credentialing to make you concerned. @pgg is correct that facilities will need to see proof of insurance, but it's not unheard of for someone to have a valid COI and yet not have valid insurance -- most commonly if the employer failed to make the payments on the insurance.

I’ve had doctors company and medpro (Warren buffet berkshire holding company subsidy))

No issues with either of them
