alirght...it's october and i have no interviews. last year, i got an interview invite mid sept and ended up nowhere..so i guess this year things ain't looking good for me. when should i start applying to carribean schools? i mean....do carribean schools fill up fast? i'd apply to ross or st. george as early as possible...but money doesn't come out of my asx so i'm trying to hold off applying to carribean schools as much as possible to save money.

does anyone know what is a good time to submit a carribean school application?

i *refuse* to believe that a lack of interviews at this point in the game means we're not getting in this cycle. that being said, im already planning on taking courses next semester to boost el-gpa for a reapplication...... i mean. come on. its *only* october. right??

You do realize it's September 29.

my packet of LOR's hasn't even been sent out from my commitee yet because they are now claiming they need 8-10 weeks (rather than the earlier promised, but still absurdly long 6-8 weeks) to get their cover letter ready.

luckily, i got an interview at duke without them having the LOR's but i'm going nuts worrying my LOR's are going to go out too late. I had all my LOR's to my committee at the being of august and they keep giving me excuses/making promises about when it will be done.

grrrrrrrr. i'm not giving up though and neither should you. its still early in the grand scheme of things despite all these people on sdn who are really ahead of the curve/timeline.

now is not the time to start worrying, esp since it is very early for some schools. some edp applicants have interviews at the end of september. but, more importantly, there are many more months to wait. if you ever start stressing then you need to find a way to calm yourself down cause it doesnt do well to think about the fate of your application every single day until you hear something.

Are there any readers out there that were complete in beginning of August and then got inteviews later?

someone please find me a rope so i can tie it around my neck

Thanks schoolgirl, good luck!

I guess I'm trying to ask, were there anyone that was complete in beginning of August and then invited for interviews much much later? Or does 2 months later mean, sorry, no interviews?

Yeah...I'm in the same boat. My application was sent and completed by Buffalo, Albany, Crieghton, St. Louis like two months ago. I called up Buffalo and Albany and turns out....this is the funny part..."it's on the pile waiting to be reviewed". Two months and still waiting....makes you think as to all that **** about time restraints and time sensitive and "earlier the better" stuff is crap that the AMCAS and med schools squat down and let loose on you.

An interesting question that I would also like to know the answer to.

Sure, happens all the time, as long as you're not being rejected you're still in contention.

Number one, it's not October. Number two, it's really early in the interview season so relax.

Don't worry about it yet. If you look at the interview thread, you'll see that about half the schools have not started interviewing yet (that or people are not posting it). A lot of schools wait until they get the August MCAT applicants before they see who they want to interview. Empirically, look at it this way: UC Irvine interviews about 400 people each year, and they do so in batches of 30-40 students at a time. They have only set up 3 interview dates so far, so they have only gone through 25-30% of their interviewees. Some schools (OHSU, Harvard, Stanford) haven't started yet. My guess is that only about 10% of the interviews have been set up to date. It's only September.

also - not that this is a good thing, im my opinion - it looks like there are more applicants this year than in the past, so maybe its just taking longer to go through stuff? not that it makes it any less AGGRIVATING

Its true, I spoke with two different adcoms (EVMS & Georgetown) and they confirmed that applications numbers are up and the applicant pool is more competitive then last year.

Hey guys I have a question. When does the bulk of the interview invites come around? I've heard from between the months of October to December but dunno if that's accurate. 😕

In my experience, it is still early in the game for interview invites. I got my first invite in mid October and my last in mid January.

If you haven't heard anything by now, you can always send an update letter to the school to try to stay on their radar screen.

Good luck! The waiting can be painful; try to stay optimistic and not let it get you down. You really never know how things are going to pan out.
