If you answer yes, please let me know the school and if the policy is enforced.
Thanks doctors.

Wow! I'm in second year. Other than exams, I don't think I've been to class in the last month. We have a small group thing that is required, but lecutre. Come on. Most of the stuff you can learn on your own if you are motivated. People have different learning styles, by requiring people to go to lecture, you will be hurting those who are better off learning the material on their own without helping those who would go to lecture anyway.
We are not in kindergarten anymore, things that don't involve patient contact should be optional provided that the student understands that they are still responsible for the material.

Regular everyday lectures at my school are not mandatory, but any and all clinics, clinical correlations, and small group meetings certainly are. If we miss one of these, we get a negative evaluation in our file; if we miss two, we fail the course. Kinda rough, but we don't have more than one a week at the most.
I attended class for the first three weeks of medical school my first year, and then stopped going for the rest of the year. Once second year began, and we started learning about symptoms, disease, medications, etc., I began attending again. To me, it's all about the relevance.
