Marquette Vs. Michigan Vs. Louisville

Hi everyone!
I am having a very difficult time choosing between Marquette, University of Michigan, and University of Louisville (what a great problem to have). Of course these are all fantastic schools, and I would be thrilled to go to any of them. I have a decent amount of Marquette contacts, but I don't know any Michigan or Louisville students.

I have a lot of friends that are dental students at Marquette, so it would be an easy transition, but I don't love the city of Milwaukee. The admissions staff at University of Louisville are beyond friendly, and all of the students and faculty seemed genuinely happy which is very important to me. Louisville is also about $15,000/year more expensive than Marquette and Michigan for me. I don't know if $15,000/year is worth a school that I felt slightly better about when I truly loved them all. I love the city of Ann Arbor, but I am worried that it might be a little intense for me. Student involvement and teamwork is very important to me, and I want to make sure Michigan has that.

I want to pick a school that I will thrive at and be happiest at. Has anyone been in a similar situation with similar options?

60k overall is not chump change, especially with interest. Although you didn't like Milwaukee, did you like Marquette? The vast majority of your time will be spent at the school right? You'll have friends that are currently dental students there so may be helpful to have upperclassmen you know well.

I was recently talking to a D1 at Michigan, and they told me that there's has been a lot of group projects for them this semester. Additionally the school just recently received a $6 million grant for their inter-professional program, so i think they'll have a few interprof education classes where you'll get a whole healthcare teamwork experience. in terms of other EC involvement, there are plenty of opportunity for involvement in student orgs, research and volunteering .

Congrats on the schools! Honestly I hear nothing but good things about all those schools so I don't think it's going to be a matter of which school is better in preparing you. 15k wouldn't hinder me from going to a school I'd be happier in so I don't think cost should be a decisive factor for you. Seems like you'd prefer to be around people you know. But for me if I were in your shoes I'd pick Michigan mainly because like studentdent110 said, it's Michigan!

But maybe don't go so I can get in to Michigan! Again, congrats!

Actually scratch that, I agree with xerxes in that 60k additional for tuition is a pretty big difference.

Michigan and Marquette are both so fantastic. Marquette probably has the best environment/student dynamic I ever experienced. It is breaking my heart not going there so I understand your dilemma. But Michigan is also amazing and cheaper (for me, at least).... so pick Michigan so we can be classmates!

If you are looking for student collaboration, teamwork, great camaraderie, then Marquette is the place to be. I am an undergrad there and work at the Dental school (just a student job-nothing fancy) and witness this on a daily basis so its definitely not just for show. Marquette and Michigan are both great schools. Having friends/upper class-men that you know can also be a huge help. Also, Milwaukee is like a diamond in the rough! There are so many fun things to do and the school always plans fun things for the students (baseball games, picnics, bar crawls, pot lucks, etc.) I can't speak for the environment at Michigan but midwest schools are generally pretty friendly (from what I have witnessed). I think if you are looking for a place you will be happy at the people can make a huge difference, so choose the place where you are most comfortable!
