Hi, I got a email today of interview invitation from Maryland. 🙂
Options:
Friday, January 26, 2007 8:30a.m. - 12:00 noon or 12:30 pm -4:00pm
Saturday, January 27, 2007 8:30a.m. - 12:00 noon or 12:30 pm - 4:00pm

I plan to fly there early morning Saturday and fly back later the same day for the 12:30 pm interview.
I have never been there, could anybody give me some detailed information about transportation from airlport (BWI) to U of Maryland? It seems there are MARC train + University shuttle bus, and Super Shuttle available in addition to Taxi.

Or should I fly there one day before and stay in a hotel? Any recommendations for hotels close to campus?

Or should I fly there one day before and stay in a restaurant? Any recommendations for restaurants close to campus?

You want to stay in a restaurant? Whaaatt?😕

Yeah, I mean hotel actually (I have corrected it). Thank you for pointing out. 🙂 And I am a girl.

I had a friend who was going to nursing school in Baltimore (I think the pharm school is close) and when i went to go visit, I would always take a taxi from the airport. Besides a taxi might be best especially if you are going to do the same day stuff. A rental car might not be bad if you know where you are going. Then you can visit ESPN zone for a job-well-done brew👍

Good Luck

Where are you flying from? The reason I ask...this is a dicey time for flying, weather wise. If you have to fly thru O'Hare or Denver...you could get delayed & miss your connection.

If you fly thru the south - Dallas or Atlanta....still lots of traffic.

My opinion.....fly the day before, stay in a hotel (or restaurant....eh - who cares?????😀 ).

That gives you time to get to the hotel, ask the concierge or front desk how long it will take you to get to where you want to go...the best way to do that, etc....they will also store your luggage so you can go by & pick it up on the way back to the airport.

That way...you won't be harried, have to travel in your suit, worry about missing connections, being late, etc.....

Sometimes, money is well spent & I think this would be a time. Just my opinion!

Good luck!

I would suggest staying over the night. it would be much more better than flying in the day o fthe interview. It would let u have a good night rest and not worry about flight delays and all that. its getting cold now so try to dress warm.

A cab would be better from BWI except u know ur way around bmore and also if theres traffic u can always get down ask for directions and just walk up to the school (i.e if ur hotel isnt far from where u r).

My best bet is cab from BWI and stay the night. And pls try to take the saturday interview so as not to get stuck in friday traffic. Pple leaving baltimore and all that. BW parkway is always has slow moving traffic

Like everyone else has said if you come for same day trip, then just take a cab. However, I would recommend coming the night before and maybe flying out on the same day of the interview. There is a marriott and holiday Inn walking distance from the school. I think the interview process is nerve racking enough that u don't need to add travel plans to it.

I have re-thought about it and I agree it is not wise to be in such a rush. I will go there Friday and take the interview on Saturday.

Thank all of you for advices. 🙂

I have read some interview feedbacks and it seems Baltimore is not a safe place to stay. I can only pray that I will be back home safely. 🙁

Hi
I have been living in Maryland for two years. First of all good luck on your interview. I wish to be in your place next year because that is the only school I am going to apply to. Second is that Baltimore is not bad if you are in the right area..
It has beautiful places to visit. Consider going to harbor on Friday night and you will love it. Be careful not to stay out late. Good luck on everything. Let me know if you need any information that I can help.
I would also like to know how long did you study for the pcat and which material did you use to review the science section? I appreciate if you tel me what you did for the English part? I am an ESL student with a 3.9 GPA in everything. But I am worried for English. Let me know if I can help you too.

Good Luck

Just got an interview for Maryland. Friday or Satureday. I had an interview at U of MN at that friday, I already book the round trip flight. I guess what I have to do is skip the back flight and book 2 individual one way trip. here is my schedule

Jan 25 7:00 pm Cincinnati->UMN, stay overnight for interview
Jan 26 4:00 pm, Minneapolis -> Baltimore, stay overnight for morning section interview
Jan 28 Baltimore-> Cincinnati

I have friend that I can stay over. But how hectic it is, I am going to be dying just by flying around. Hopefully there is no snow storm.

Skip the flight back? wouldn't you lose a lot of money that way? There's usually a fee to change your flight plans, I would just pay that fee instead of booking a whole different trip.

i just got an email from md too!!!! wohoo.

i dont know if i want to go there or not :-\

I got an invite interview from maryland but I know nothing about the school and randomly decided to apply to it. Can anyone tell me about it? Is it a good school/is the location nice? I'm trying to decide if I should go and accept the invitation as it is a fair ways away..

Hello~!

First, congratulations to those of you who got invited for U Maryland interview!🙂

U Maryland pharmacy school is good! It ranks in the top ten, and it is very competitive.

I would like to know, those who got invited, when did you submit your PharmCAS, and what is your GPA and PCAT score?

I am from Maryland, I have a 3.60 GPA and a 94% composite and I still haven't heard anything from U Maryland.....🙁

Thanks~~

So, I got the email from UMD-Balt with the choice of the 26 or 27th as well- right after i got back to the hotel after my wingate interview. I live in NC, so MD is about 10 hours (Driving) away. I have school friday morning, work friday and saturday and flights are running at about $400. I have a 4.0 GPA and a 98% PCAT and think I did well at Wingate and UNC-CH. Money is really tight right now (especially after the Wingate trip) and I was wondering if any of you guys had an opinion on what I should do... I could probably get my shifts at work covered- but such short notice for out-of-state student seems a little inconsiderate... do they work with people at all in similar situations? Are there other dates? Is it rolling for acceptances- they started interviews in october so it seems like they don't want me so much (i had a mid-Dec interview at UNC and just this past friday at Wingate)... Do I have much of a chance since I am NC, not MD? I am torn... opinions/advice very much welcome..thanks, dana

I am out of state as well, to notice 1 week ahead of time when I already booked my trip to UMN interview on that friday. I have to book 2 one way trips, painful and so poor right now.

I think that the October interview were only for early decision applicants. This may be the first round of interviews for Maryland. I am out of state too. I was able to find a decent flight, hotel and airport shuttle deal on travelocity. I was also surprised that they decided to spring the interview date on us but I suppose it is done to weed out those that aren't that interested.

yeah, this is only the first rounds of interviews the school has for regular applicants. I also got an emial and wondering if they have other dates later on. I dont know whether im goin or not either (im from MI).

Hi, miceheart

Did you apply to Ohio State?

Umd used to have rolling admissions. But if you read their web site it says that they do not have rolling admissions anymore. Applicants will find out the results sometime late March - April, i think they conduct interviews in late Jan and Feb. So, it seems to me that it really doesn't matter when you have your interview b/c it's not based on rolling admissions, everyone is reviewed at the same time for the final decision- not sure, but u can confirm this by calling them, but just read their website's FAQs- and i think the question on rolling admissions is mentioned there.

Congratulations to everyone that has heard from UMD. I'm in Maryland and have not heard anything. The waiting game...I don't like it very much! 🙁

Hi, yes, I did apply to Ohio stat. Have not heard from then yet. the status just listed evaluation and it's been listed like that for 3 weeks. and yesterday got a rejection letter from albany.

i have interview for maryland on feb 3rd since all the january 26th and 27th spots were full by the time i called. they told me that holiday inn and marriot hotels are within walking distance. i think im going to stay at holiday inn, it's 99 dollars with corporate discount and it's less than a mile away. hope that helps!

I have also applied there but no response. If you dont mind me asking how were your pcat / gpa scores?
