This thread is a couple of months old- but is the only one relevant one I can find. I received the booklet and am not sure I want to pay the $240 to view the online course. I got some responses back from people on LinkedIn and it seems that it is a "reasonable" exam whether you use online course or study the guide on your own. It just depends on your study needs. I haven't received information though on the format and can't find it anywhere which seems strange. I've called the board numerous times and neglected to ask this. If anyone has an answer, please respond

You mentioned that the test was open book. I spoke with one person who had an open book test and said it was because they were licensed in another state. Did you already carry a license from a state other than Maryland?
My other question is about the study book - the material is basic but the legal jargon can be confusing. I'm not sure what their test focuses on - are they asking more procedural questions or definitions - that sort of thing is what helps me to structure studying. Otherwise, I end up re-typing everything from the book. I've asked the Board admin who answer the main line and their wasn't much knowledge about the exam other than "I'm pretty sure it's multiple choice."
Congrats!! I plan on taking it next monrg. Any tips, anything that helped you to prepare. Sounds like reading the book is crucial. Did you prepare any other way???I took the exam yesterday and passed! It was not easy. Like Childdoconeday stated, you will need every minute of the 2 hours. I read through the book, highlighted obvious information, and took notes. With that, I still finished with about 17 minutes left to go back and check all my answers, which I was barely able to do. It is open book and multiple choice. The test questions and answers are not written in legalese like the book. They really should just make a study book that has the laws in laymen's language since that is how the test is written. I'm glad that one hurdle is over.

TIA, Ms. Phipps
Someone who had recently taken it told me to focus on knowing the "obvious." So, I highlighted and took detailed notes on qualifications for psych associate and licensed psychologists; definitions, fines, penalties related to practicing without a license; process of board hearings related to complaints against psychologists; supervision expectations; duty to warn; reporting abuse in minors and abuse and neglect in adults; and how long you have to keep records. All these were mentioned on the test, but they had plenty of questions from other areas too. I do think focusing on the aforementioned areas helped me pass.
I haven't taken it but I know people who have. Its not easy. But if you are well prepared and do well with test taking you should be fine.Has anyone recently taken the Maryland Jurisprudence? I know it's a 2hr open book exam and feel like I'm prepared for it. However, I do not want to go into the exam overly confident just because it's open book. Even though I've read, tabbed, and written notes I can't help but to continue to feel nervous. I'm taking it in a few weeks. Any honest feedback, guidance, and input on your experiences are greatly appreciated

This may be a silly question... But how/where do you register to take the exam?! I'm not finding the information anywhere!
Thanks so much, SpacePsych! That's what I originally thought, but then someone told me I could take the Jurisprudence exam at any time (before receiving approval from the MD Board). It sounds like the only way to get around taking this exam prior to receiving approval to for licensed psychologist is to apply for the psych associate...and I'm not doing that! You have to complete the application for licensed psychologist or registered psychological associate. Once they approve your application you will receive a letter saying you can take either the EPPP or the Maryland Jurisprudence. You pay the fee via check and mail the form back with what day you want. They will email you before the day of exam giving you instructions. It’s offered once a month on a specific day. It is online, 75 questions (I think), and you have the entire day to start the exam. Once started it must be completed in two hours. It gives you a score and pass/fail immediately. I received my license number (since I completed the EPPP a few weeks before) the same week online, and the paper license by mail the next week.

Hi, I am planning to take the test soon. Would you mind posting the electronic version of the book?I took it Tuesday and PASSED!! The Board sends you a link the day before to sign in and take the exam. Thank God for a colleague who's sent me an electronic version of the book. It was so much easier to find information that I wasn't as familiar with. I still tabbed and highlighted. However some questions are looking for very specific lines or phrases. I was down to the seconds before submitting the exam. Results are given at the end
I had read so many different comments regarding the exam that I just wanted to play it safe. Glad you pass the test I am hoping I will be able to do the same.I passed the test 7 days ago. It wasn't that big of a deal. I prepared over the course of 10 days (read the book 2x and took notes) and scored an 89%.
Where can I find the online version of the code that I can use to CTRL F during the exam? That would be immensely helpful! Thanks! It's online and open book. I was able to read through it twice and tab/highlight relevant pages. The code is an online too and you can download/view all the relevant statutes in the book. That way you can CTRL F to find sections. It's a poorly written test which makes it more difficult. I took it once and passed though. Definitely minor compared to the EPPP. Hope this helps!

Thanks! Very helpful! The exam is online (at home) and, if I recall correctly, they offer you a few dates per month.
Thank you!!!Not sure if anyone is still following this thread, but I wanted to relay that I took the exam yesterday and passed with a percentage in the mid-90's. In addition to the typical advice around familiarizing yourself with the content of the book (I read everything through twice), what helped me the most was downloading the individual files from the board's website and converting them into one large Word document. In doing so, it enables you to quickly search via CTRL F, and to highlight/make comments. This ended up saving me a ton of time. Good luck, everyone!
Hello, I was wondering if you still had the electronic version of the material? I’ll be taking the test soon but the board still hasn’t sent the book over and I want to start studying. The pdf version would also help tremendously for the test.Thank you. Your input is definitely helpful and reassuring. I get test anxiety, but if I can pass the EPPP then I should be fine. This is helpful because I did tab my book, wrote notes, and have an electronic version so that I can easily locate identified key terms.
Anyone have tips for this exam (in addition to those above)? Read the manual twice already and highlighted everything I believe I need, but frankly some of the information they sent in the manual are outdated when looking at the more recent updated regulations and even on the Dept of Health website (e.g., copying fees, qualifications for certificates for involuntary admissions, etc.). It would be helpful if they had some sample questions so its clear if the questions are more objective and direct versus some of the EPPP ethics questions. Feeling a bit stuck, as I already read, re-read (and memorized) random state-specific details, and unsure what else to do to prepare.
Difficult in comparison to other states.I mean, you studied for 4 days and passed, how difficult can it be?
I just messaged youDoes anyone have the Maryland Ethic code as a word that you would be willing to share with me?
Any chance I can get a copy as well?I just messaged you

Not sure if you still have that document, but would you be willing to share it. I take the MD jurisprudence exam soon and it sounds like what you made would be incredibly helpful.
