So here are my stats
Undergrad GPA - 3.53 ( Have 3 C's in 3 bio courses)

Had a 20AA/21PAT when i applied last time for D-school.Had 4 interviews. Dint get in 🙁

Im planning on starting my masters this year. What do u guys think? A good idea or not?

Im obv gonna be retaking the DAT since its gonna expire by the time i start applying again (plus getting a better score wont hurt my chances 🙂 )

also, what about those 3 C's? Do u think those are gonna prevent me of getting in even if I get straight A's during my masters coupled with Research etc

Dont worry about your C's as much, you've only got 3, I wouldn't do masters because your GPA is already good enough. Either you take some course to boost your gpa during the gap year and amp up your application or if your intent about doing a masters do one that takes less than a year to complete.

I dont think you need to do a masters. Your GPA is high enough. Take the test again score a point or more higher and continue doing shadowing and I think you should have a better chance next cycle.

you have an a- gpa. No reason why you should start a masters.

You had 4 interviews, and you didn't get in? That's a red flag to me bud. You may need to improve your interview skills. Or, it could be that you submitted your app late. Either way, you don't need to enroll in a masters.

I'd say apply super early, get solid letters of rec, and you'll get interviews (assuming you do well on the retake).

Save the money for dental school.

4 interviews and no acceptance? Hmmm, maybe you should practice your interviewing skills. Get some feedback on it. What about your personal statement and LOR?

As far as I Know , the dean of one of the schools inclined that he liked what I wrote in a certain part of my PS, so I assume it was good..

As for the LOR's I dont really know...Im pretty sure one of the profs wrote me a terrific one

Other than that i have no clue

i went to tulane - and i got accepted into 3 schools, so it worked fo rme

I think a master's degree in upper level biology is a great idea for any applicant who has a lower undergrad GPA. Adcoms see an MA/MS science applicant as a very determined candidate- not everyone will have the determination to enter a masters program and reapply to dental schools. How do you separate yourself from literally thousands of applicants as best as you can? By showing as much passion and determination as possible - it comes down to how bad one really wants it; success in upper level masters program will certainly show that you want it! Any research you do is also a plus!

I feel this way bc a masters degree has helped me be accepted to several dental schools this cycle!
