Hello!
I am planning on doing a masters degree (MPH) after my bachelors due to having a low GPA (~3.2). I haven't seen much information on people that have done a masters before Dental school. For those of you that have gone through a similar situation, can you please advise whether or not this is a good decision, or any tips you have if i do pursue a masters degree before dental school to raise my chances of getting into a dental school?

Thank you!!!

Honestly I don't think your GPA is low enough to merit a Masters program. Not only is it very expensive but if you don't do well enough you basically ruin your chances. I see it as a last resort. I think if you took some post-bacc classes and did well (which is much easier than Masters courses) and scored a 20+ on your DAT, you would have a good chance at some dental schools, assuming you have good EC's as well.

Go for the masters. Do well in it. It will help your chances. Yes it’s expensive but how bad do you want to be a dentist?

Because your GPA is significantly low, a Masters or Post-Bacc program would serve you well.

Make sure your adjust your study strategies so you do well in the program!

If you have any other questions, or want to know what else you can to stand out on the application, don't hesitate to reach out!
