The Department of Physiology at Loyola University Medical Center, Maywood, IL. is offering a new 1 year, non-thesis Masters of Science in Physiology (MSP) Program for an entering class of Sept. 2011. The Program is designed for college graduates interested in enhancing their understanding of medical physiology and their academic credentials for entrance into future biomedical professional programs, such as medical or dental school, physical therapy or physician assistant programs. This MSP Program is separate from the MAMS program offered at our undergraduate Loyola University Chicago campus. The link to our MSP Program website is shown below. Would you mind stating what some of the other differences are between the MAMS and MSP Programs? How will they differ especially in terms of admissions into these programs as well as into medical schools (or other health professions schools)? Are there any linkages or interview/acceptance guarantees with this program? I'm not able to access the link you posted and couldn't find it in a quick google search...

I have posted the first page from our website below, describing our MSP program. If students achieve a 3.5 GPA in the Program and a 30 MCAT score, they are guaranteed an interview at Stritch School of Medicine. Our requirements for admissions include scores from MCAT or GRE or DAT. The MAMS program only focuses on students interested in medical school and therefore only accepts MCAT scores for admissions. Our program curriculum focuses on various aspects of medical physiology.

"Physiology is the basis of medicine. As such, the Master of Science in Physiology (MSP) Program is designed for college graduates who are interested in strengthening their understanding of medical physiology with the intent of enhancing their academic credentials to succeed in future professional biomedical programs such as medical school, dental school, or physical therapy, physician assistant and perfusionist programs. This new MSP Program is a non-thesis, full-time nine month curriculum running from early-September to late-May. MSP students will pursue intensive studies in graduate cell physiology, physiological biochemistry, organ system medical physiology, neurophysiology, basic human anatomy, introduction to pathophysiology, and clinical bioethics. The Program also includes a course on Professional Development to help each student with their applications to future biomedical programs. Each student in the MSP Program will be assigned a faculty advisor to guide them throughout the program, as well as with their post-graduate applications. We also provide assistance for students interested in local volunteer community programs to further explore various medically-related career paths and as part of their future applications to professional biomedical programs. Our courses are designed specifically for MSP students and are classroom taught by medical school faculty professors who have extensive experience teaching first and second year medical students at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine. Successful completion of the MSP Program will provide the student with a strong foundation for success in a wide variety of future professional biomedical programs."

If you cut and paste the web link into your browser it should work. If not, go to Loyola University Chicago, Stritch School of Medicine. Go to the Physiology Department and then MS graduate programs.

Thank you. That is correct. The original link I provided was for internal access to the website. The link you provided is for external access.

I wanted to announce that we are now accepting applications for the second year (2012) of our MS in physiology program at Loyola University Medical Center. Further information can be found at our website at the Stitch School of Medicine website.
