I am hoping someone can help clear up some confusion regarding ERAS and NRMP options. I have started choosing programs for Rad Onc on my ERAS application. Most programs are categorized as "Advanced" residency, so I will have to also match a Preliminary year. Because Rad Onc is so competitive, I realize that I will probably not have a clue where I am going until I open the magic envelope. Ideally, I would like to perform my prelim year at the same location (or area) that I match at for Rad Onc. Is there anyway to link both matches? For example, say I rank Rad Onc and Prelim programs: 1) Florida, 2) Chicago, 3) UCSF. Can I match a prelim year at Stanford with a Rad Onc year at Stanford, or will it be a crap shoot? Do I run the risk of ending up at Florida for prelim and UCSF for Rad Onc?

Thanks,
Casey

Yes, you are able to submit a prelim list attached to each of your advanced lists. It is a pretty simple process. You just enter your programs into a list and then use a pull-down menu following your advanced choices. The harder problem is actually coordinating the interviews for the same times and dates. Good luck. I would have a local prelim program for a backup so as not to move to two different coasts in two years.
