Matching ophthalmology as a DO with p/f step 1

What does a DO need to do to match ophtho with the looming p/f step 1? Not sure I want to go into that for sure, but my dad just offered me his established ophtho practice if I do, so it seems stupid to not at least consider it. What would I need to do to be more competitive without a step 1 score?

Multiple publications in ophthalmology, strong step 2, glowing LORS from ophthalmology, surgery, medicine.

As high of a Step 2 as you can, multiple publications, top quartile rank, as many auditions/Aways at programs as you can, glowing LORs from said research connections/aways.

Most of all, network your butt off for all 4 years. Become a known commodity.

Optho is also a very small field. See if your dad has contacts anywhere and reach out early. Make sure to go to ARVO
