Wow, NSU has a pretty damn good match list.

I'm not trying to cause problems here, but based on what are you guys saying NSU has a really good match list? Based on the number of people going into the most competitive specialties(optho, urology, ent, derm, ortho, neuro, radonc), there wasn't a single match. There was 1 radiology, but that was at Barnabas. The vast majority of IM matches weren't at "top" places.

There is nothing wrong with doing primary care at community hospitals or lesser known university hospitals, and it is possible that this particular class wasn't interested in matching into subsurgical specialties or training at top 20 hospitals.

I hate when people have to slam match lists as not being "top" programs.....each year is different and personally I don't put a lot of weight in matchlists. Its totally up to the indivdual in where they can get in and where they want to go/live. So many factors....

Anyway, for laughs here is a small list from the 2004 matchlist for Phys Medicine & Rehab (PGY2). You may or may not consider these good schools.

Emory Univ SOM - GA 1
NYU School of Medicine - NY 1
Stanford Univ Progs - CA 1
U Alabama Hosp - AL 1
U Minnesota Med School - MN 1

(I got this from the nsucom website)

I agree with this in general and that's why I put the disclaimer in my post. It may just be that people from NSU that year were not interested in matching in competitive specialties. Still, there has to be some general guideline for what a "great" matchlist is, because if NSU's match list was great then every school, including many in the carribean, have great match lists.

Most of the hospitals listed above are good. I'm not sure how the pm&r programs are there; I would guess they are excellent. But pm&r isn't a tough match at all, not even at "top" programs.
