I'm in trig right now, and I think I'm going to get a B or something.

My question is, would it look good for me to retake and get an A during summer? Is it going to help any? My other classes are Chem 1, Bio 2, and Introduction to Military Leadership, all which I have A's in.

Is this one B worth sweating over? Or should I move on?

Also, will not having the best foundation in trig give me difficulties in Cal I?

How much do med schools look at math classes?

Trig is a high school class and the little bit of it that is needed in calculus could have been learned (relearned) in a day. You probably should have taken Pre-Calculus if you wanted to prepare for higher math.
Don't worry about the B but look to see if the schools you are going to apply to even require Calculus for admissions- many do not, but some require as high as calc II.

I know that trig is a high school course, but I was stupid in high school and stopped after HIGH SCHOOL Algebra II. So I am learning as much math as I can before I have to take Calculus I.

I am transferring to general studies at Texas A&M University, so that I can complete Cal I, then transfer to the Biomedical Science college.

Is the B in Trig significant enough for me to believe I am not ready for higher math?

Additionally, I have taken Bio I, II, and Chem I at Community College. Should I look at re-taking at Texas A&M? I feel confident in my Bio, but not my chem. Additionally, I do want to look my best for the med schools

Don't retake any of the courses. One B is not bad. Trig is not all that important in Calc. Some of it is necessary, but like LateBl00mer said, you can relearn it in Calc. As far as the other classes, you have A's!! Don't risk those grades to try and look good. The higher level classes that you will take will show medical schools if you can handle their course work.

I got a B in Trig... and I'm graduating next month with a degree in Math. Getting a B doesn't mean you can't ace Calc. It just means you have to work a little harder to do so.

Since this isn't really about chances for getting into medical school as much as a discussion of how to tackle math in college, I'm gonna move this out to pre-allo. 🙂

Don't retake anything you get a B in.

No offense, but any idiot can move from a B to an A by retaking a course. It doesn't show medical schools anything, and you won't be interested enough the second time for you to learn that much extra. You will be fine in higher math. Don't worry.
