Jane and jake went to the store. jane both 2 donuts and 3 cookies for $3.30 and jake bought 5 donuts and 2 cookies for $4.95. what is the price per donut and the prices per cookies?

I got as far as....
jane) 2D+3C= 3.3
jake) 5D+2C= 4.95

Then I thought i would solve for C using jane's data
C=(3.3-2D)/3

so I imput jane'S data into jake's to solve for D.. anway.. I AM STUCK! :confused:

Just tweak them and add them. Multiply the first equation by (-2) and the second by (3). Then you have this:

-4D - 6C = -6.6
15D + 6C = 14.85

Now you have a -6C and a +6C. If you add the two equations the Cs will drop out:

11D = 8.25

And now you do the math and get D = 8.25/11 = 0.75. Then just solve for C.
