I'm sure it has been asked before, but what is the max subsidized and the max unsubsidized amounts that a person might be elligible for?
Thanks

The annual maximums are $38,500 of which subsidized loans can be no more than $8,500. The total maximum for all Stafford loans (undergraduate, graduate, professional, and/or allopathic/osteopathic) is $189,125 of which no more than $65,000 can be subsidized.

Do you usually have to have a cosigner to get the max of $38500?

Credit rating is not an eligibility factor so no cosigner is needed for any federal Stafford loans.

Where is the figure $189,125 coming from? The Student Guide to Aid reports the figure as $138,500. Any clarification would be appreciated.

i think the number you have is for non-health-professions. normally, the per year limit for grad school is $18,500, but health-professions students can get an extra $20,000 per year.
