Mike and Nutmeg, Any word on what's going on? Where are your acceptances already? It would be cruel for Mayo to put you on hold after waiting all this time. I think you must be getting in. Just when is the real question.

Well I just returned from a weekend at my favorite place on earth where I spent the weekend getting my volunteering on, so I feel like my batteries are recharged and now I just don't care how long it takes Mayo to get back to me, I know they will eventually... 😀

...but, at the same time I sure hope you are right, and I wouldnt mind hearing soon - nutmeg, I know you were considering a call this week... is one still in the works?

(if you happen to live in california, or anywhere near it, or for whatever reason are at all interested in volunteering for camp (some people fly back from east coast just to do it in the summer) - see above link - then pm me, we can talk)

I'd love to volunteer there Mike...but unfortunately I'd have to bring my baby along 😛

Hmm...I think I will give Mayo a call today. Anyone else going to (I don't want to bug Jane)?
 
Still no word from Mayo, but like Mike said, I know they'll eventually get around to letting us know. I think I'm going to hold off on calling for now...but I may give in and call at the end of the week!
 
Another month and most of us should know our fates - one way or the other. :scared:

mikeinsd, sorry for ur hold, but remember, most of the class gets in off hold.

I felt pretty crappy when I got that hold, but here's some reasoning that could lift your spirits: getting in off hold will make the acceptance even more sweet right? Thinking of it that way makes the hold a little less painful.

How do you know that most of the class gets in off of hold? From what I understand they've already basically filled the class, so pretty much everything from here on out is waiting for others to decline their spot. If you don't get in the first time you're in a very large group of people in the same situation...I like to be optimistic, but I am having a hard time....anyone have any enlightening stats to brighten me up??;-)
 
Since so many people got hold emails today, does that mean the admissions committee met yesterday to give out acceptances to some people? I thought they did it only once a month? Also, does anybody know how many spots have been given out?
 
28 spots have been given out as of today @ 2:30
 
So about 7 more spots....plus a few people who get in and decide not to go there...maybe 10-15 more people get in....(crosses fingers)

i really don't like the fact we are losing hope, although its good to be realistic. besides, i know at least a few of you have acceptances elsewhere at some great schools

which is why i'm more concerned for ppl like myself :laugh:
 
Here's my prediction: (all numbers from USNews)

6 spots to fill yet (28 of 34 reg MD taken so far), also assume people will decline at the same rate as last year, so 34*(1-42/65) = 34(.35) = 12 spots from people dropping + the 6 left to fill = 18 more acceptances given out to finish the class (including waitlists)
 
btw, i was wondering how many applicants are currently on hold do you think?
what % do they reject post-interview?
 
they do not reject post interview - everyone who is not in gets a hold, that is, until I believe April 15th, when they want everyone to commit or drop, because at that point they form a waitlist of 30-40 people i think and drop the rest
 
I got the call this morning @ 8:30: I'm in.
 
Congratulations! When did you interview? Is Mayo done with the interviews?

interviewed 1/29, ranked 2/16, got hold email yesterday (?) then I got the call this morning. Jane told me I was the 29th person, so I don't know how many other people were called today. I also thought it was kind of odd I got the call this morning because I know the committee doesn't meet until later today, so if I was accepted, why wasn't I called earlier this week (before the hold email?)...who knows? WHO CARES? Good luck to everyone🙂

Any scholarship/financial help? I wonder how many of the scholarships have been given away :scared:
 
does anyone know when everyone who has interviewed and been placed on hold receives their final application status (acceptance, rejection, or waitlist)?
 
I got the merit scholarship and I'm in state, BUT don't worry no full-ride for me, so theres still at least 1 available (maybe?)

Everyone will find out March 15 where they stand: either rejection, alternate or accepted.
 
Hi all, I'm a fairly inactive SDNer. I'm also on hold still and dying to find out--but I guess it's March 15th for me and looking unlikely. Good luck to all.
 
I've been reading the Mayo thread for awhile, but this is my first post. I'm on hold, have been on hold seemingly forever. My interviewer was so positive, yet I've been waiting for a long time. I still have a bit of hope, but I guess we'll see in the next couple of weeks.
 
a big congratz to rach...do you guys think they'll be quick to give away those final 5 spots? or do you think they'll wait until march. i think it would be only fair to wait a little, since ppl like 12loser12 and i have yet to be RANKED let alone considered for admission.
 
Jane did say that there was going to be at least 1 more round of acceptances before the March 15 date.

I've been reading this thread for a while, but I've never posted. I spoke with Jane and as of 9:00 am CST this morning, 31 regular MD spots have been filled. So we're down to 3! She also said that they accepted around 12 off of the waitlist last year. There is one more interview day next week and they will all be ranked by March 1st and all decisions by the 15th. 😕 anyone know when the next meeting for offers will be?? is it weekly

after you guys were ranked, did you just sit with your phone all day?
 
From what it sounds like they should be ranking the last bit of applicants by next week and I would imagine sending out the last acceptances shortly thereafter. They will also be assembling the waitlist, ugh.... Lets cross our fingers. :luck: :luck:
 
Ok... so this is just a lame excuse to bump the thread...

If you were accepted to Mayo, what would be the reasons for you to turn down the acceptance?
