They notified me through email that they received my letters about 2 weeks after I sent them.

Also, repeating what others have already said: There's a status page..?

Sorry, but I did ask Marcy, and it sounds like they just go out sporadically.

And yeah, there's no status page. :laugh:
 
I called today and Marcy told me that there are still several AMCAS apps from 7/31 and before that are in line to be reviewed for the LOR request.....hope that helps somebody out
 
alright guys mayo said i would hear within 4 weeks..about an interview or not...6 days left for me!!! what about yall?

I didn't even know you had to wait for a LOR request from Mayo...I just sent the letters to them when I was sending out my LOR for the other schools I applied to.

Oops...

Then I was confused when the LOR request email came, because I had already sent the letters...
 
Okay don't want to hijack the thread but where is a good place to go snowboarding around rochester (winters coming). When I mean good, I mean has some jumps and rails, I don't care much about freeriding/carving. Pretty much looking for a snowboarding park like I'm used to back in Cali, I'm looking to buy a season pass and looking for some fellow riders to go with on a weekly basis. Help a newbie to the mid west out. Thanks in advance.

I have no idea, but we did get this advice from another med student a week or so ago about good ski passes (hopefully you can snowboard there too, but I didn't check it out yet). Also, although it doesn't sound like it'll stand up to your expectations, it still might be something to check out:

I bought one of these passes last year, and I'd highly recommend it. Welch Village is only an hour away, and although it's MN skiing, it generally isn't crowded so you can get a lot of runs in. The pass pays for itself in only a few visits, and you can buy a package of discounted rentals with the pass if you want.

Hopefully someone more familiar with snowboarding in Rochester can chime in....
 
My boyfriend lives in MN. He claims that skiing spots around there are more like hills than mountains and that blacks in the midwest are like easy blues in the northeast. I can't even imagine how they'd fail in comparison to the Rockies. So I wouldn't bank on any amazing snowboarding spots in Rochester.

I'd totally give up snowboarding for that school. Just me though.

I also got the under review email today. I submitted my LORs on 8/29.

has anyone e-mailed the admissions office and got a reply back? i have been inquiring about my letters... i supposed they never got them n i should resend.. thanks
 
Try calling them. I have Marcy's # on speed dial, although I've only used it twice so far.

I emailed them yesterday about my app... since it will be two months since I paid as of tomorrow. I got a personal reply within an hour. All they told me was to be patient but I was still impressed with the quick reply time.
 
Just got the good news this morning!!!😀

For everyone still waiting, I have been complete for over the four weeks that they estimated, so I'll bet that they are just trying to wade through a sea of early applicants. Hopefully, they'll send out several more invites soon. Best of luck to everyone still waiting for news and hopefully I'll get to meet some of you there!:luck::luck:

Yay!! How great 🙂 PM me if you're interviewing in September...I'm interviewing pretty soon and I'm definitely interested in meeting SDNers 😀. Maybe I'll meet you on campus!

Actually, they are! And just as a heads up for what our schedule is currently, our first exam is next Friday on Sept. 19th, and then we have two weeks of selectives (as do the second years), which means no classes to sit in on for those of you interviewing during those two weeks. And while some students do away selectives, there should still be a good number of us around (and some fun activities since we won't have classes). Then on Oct. 6th we start our six week anatomy course (which appears to include components of embryology and radiology as well).

I agree with phoenix, everyone here has been super nice and helpful. Too nice that I started thinking this can't be real, I'm from Cali so I wasn't used to the mid west nice yet. I'd ask people where something was and they'd go out of their way and walk me to the location, in cali they'd tell me where to go, in New York they'd just ignore me or tell me to ask someone else. The med students and nurses have taken the time out to show me how things are done and how to use the computerized medical records. At my old hospital most of the nurses just gave me dirty looks like, I'm just a know nothing new doc. The attendings are super nice too, take the time to teach and treat you like a colleague, not like a lowly student/resident there just to help them get their work done. For the most part it's been pretty free of the old school hierarchal ego fest that you would think most prestigious places would have.

My only complaint is the night life, is a little lacking. But the clubs in Minneapolis are pretty jumpin for the mid west, and are about an hour away. Still looking for a good place to snowboard though.

I'm pretty sure that "4 week mark" doesn't mean anything.. It's bee over 5 wees for me and I haven't heard a peep.

Still crossing my fingers though!!! :luck::luck::luck: Without getting my hopes up, Mayo seems amazing and I would love to just have the opportunity to go for an interview and see how their program functions in real life. The way their hospitals, research and academics are set up seems like a real positive for the future of medicine.
 
Their small class size, however, isnt applicable on a wide scale.

I just want to see this legendary school in this tiny town and partake, for a day, its awesomeness.

No, not really. I guess I was referring more to the way their hospital is run, in the way they are able to send patients through the "system" from start to finish, getting everything they need to get done in one place and at one time, and the Clinic's ability to integrate the patient care process so well with both on-site research and teaching the next generation of health care providers. I guess I was referring more to the Mayo Clinic than the medical school in particular. In a way, it's the same "medical community" thing Case and the Cleveland Clinic have going on. One of the reasons both of these schools are so interesting to me!

Yeah I've been waiting for about a month. Hopefully something will come soon...

I seem to be having this issue with a lot of schools, however. Secondaries turned in around the end of August, letters same time/early september...still nothing in the way of rejections/interviews though
 
How do you guys know when you were "complete" at Mayo? Is there a way to see when they have received your LORs?

And an update, my last prof finally mailed out my letter! hooray! A few schools indicated that they received it yesterday and today, so hopefully Mayo has gotten it, too. I guess my 4 weeks starts now, yikes/yay...
 
Still been impoverished since early August, and no word about LORs.. Uhhhhhhh....

Well, some of the people above said they had been complete longer than the 4 weeks when they received an interview invite... so don't give in yet, because if you do, then I have to too! What can I say, I'm an eternal optimist.

So who wants to call and see when any new info about us complete more than 4 weeks ago will go out?
 
For everyone worrying about being past the four week mark, I was complete at Mayo on 8/8 and received an interview on 9/11 - longer than four weeks. Keep in mind that there are more early applicants this year than ever and they are probably just overwhelmed with apps. Just remember that no news means that you are still in the running. 🙂
