for anyone who sent the letters in via regular mail or any ucla student, how long did it take before they notified that they received your letters, it was sent on 8/15 but i have not heard a word from Mayo. thanks!

Since it was Mayo, I paid the for the priority shipping since UCLA LOR is so freaking slow!😱. Mine were sent on 8/8, and I received an email on 8/19. Plus right now, they are getting innundated with stuff, so just wait a little while longer.
 
LETS GOOOOOO MAYO. I want to hear something tonight!!!!! boot up that mass emailing computer and put me on the interview list

I haven't heard anything... I paid 7/13, received a receipt on the 13th or 14th. Then another email saying they received my fee on 7/31. I'm beginning to think they've forgotten about me...

I keep waiting for people to post good news about interviews...I'm interested in knowing when other people are going.

I literally have dreams about Mayo. Vivid dreams. I keep trying not to get my hopes up. But I would be so thrilled to go to Mayo.

Anyway, that's all. I want to meet some of you folks there.

Go to sleep... most likely wont hear anything from them but if you do, you can see it first thing in the morning rather than waiting for it all night.

What is up with everyone wanting to go to Mayo? I have never heard anyone at my school (a UC) be so in love with it. Besides the small class size, what makes Mayo so special?
 
I sent my LORs via VirtualEvals on 8/21, and just got the email saying they received it today, 9/5. Seems processing is pretty slow..
 
im feeling good about tonight. If I get an invite, I'm totally gonna look so hot and try to charm all the female adcoms/interviewers/students. Please just give me a chance.

Hey guys, I'm getting scared...
Mayo asked for my letters on 8/7, 3 days after they asked for my fee. I have 4 people writing me letters and I know 3 have been received by all my schools...the 4th (and a science professor!) hasn't sent it out yet! I am worried this is going to severly hurt my chances at Mayo (and everywhere else). What do you guys think? I'm going to send him an email today...I go to a very non pre-med type school so I think he just doesn't get the urgency involved. I'm starting to freak out about since people are already getting interviews and I have all these applications that are otherwise complete except for his letter. ahh.

Don't get scared, just get proactive. I think sending an email is a great idea. If he doesn't respond, or you get the feeling it could be awhile before he gets to your letter, you might want to think of an alternative letter writer. That way you could have your four letters submitted and be ready for review, and if his letter gets to them in time - great. If not, at least your whole application wasn't held up by that one letter (I might give schools a call to let them know so that they're not waiting for that one letter).

On the other hand, I wouldn't start panicking yet. Mayo is just starting their first interviews tomorrow, and I don't believe that that many invites have gone out yet. And for what it's worth, I didn't even apply to Mayo until the end of September and it all worked out. Regardless, panicking won't do anything for you anyway but stress you out. Just get on top of that letter writer and perhaps find a substitute if need be. :luck:

I didn't, but I do now. Only 30 interview invites have gone out so far, so you guys can all relax a little. Last year they interviewed about 300! Also, they've only received about 2,500 applications so far, and are expecting at least another 2,000. The bottom line is that the process has really just begun. :luck:

Only 30? That's really good news; I thought there would be so many more by now because I already know 3 people who got invites.

ya know if they only wanna interview 100 or 150 ppl this year, that would be great, as long as I am one of thsoe 150

Bc 300 for 42 slots, is not good odds!
 
Hey, has anyone been waiting for the LOR request/rejection notice for over 5 weeks now? If so, could it have been a lost email and should we call to check our status...or still wait a bit longer?

They received my money on 7/30.

Thanks Phoenix!! Any idea whether they are sending them out in batches or just sporadically? And if it is batches, when the next batch will go out? Seems like it's been a while since any interview/ post LOR rejection action...
 
does mayo notify that they've reiceved letters via email? i can't find where to check it on the status page..
