I went in review at Mayo on the 25 of august, at least that's what the e-mail says. How long does it take for them to decide if they are going to give the applicant an interview or rejection letter?
This waiting period is so hard. Should I call them to ask them about my application?

I wouldn't call them. As a courtesy I usually don't bother a school once I know that my file is complete. I seriously doubt that they will hold it against you if you call anyway, but it seems kind of impolite to me. The admissions process would probably take less time if the admissions staff didn't have to field so many phone calls from students who are too impatient to wait for the letter.

mayo is very backlogged...my file was complete on 7/29, but i only heard about my interview last week. they said the adcom director had gone out of town for a while, which slowed things down. however, if you don't hear back within 4-6 weeks, I'd call them. they're quite friendly--one of them even called me back to let me know the status of my application when i left a message.

Thanks, I guess I am just becoming slightly impatient and maybe somewhat demoralized. I have no interviews yet, although I applied to a fair # of schools. My application has been complete at some places for about 3 weeks now, and seeing other people getting interviews makes me a little impatient. I just want to hear something from the schools, something good hopefully.
