Can anyone tell me what post bac programs doesn't have mcat as a pre-requisite if you're a science major?

Post-bacc programs that are for career changers, and or some programs are willing to waive not taking the MCAT. But that means you will have to take it eventually.

As far as I know, UC post-bacc programs allow you to waive the MCAT. Scripps requires that you have not taken the MCAT. But this program is SPECIFICALLY for career changers and is VERY selective. In fact I think the UC ones are pretty selective too.

Just curious, since you are a science major, is there any reason why you don't want to take the MCAT before applying to a post-bacc program? It does help get you into the post-bacc program to some extent.

it's because if possible, i want to do it right after i graduate from undergrad and then have the post bac program not only be just a gpa booster but also help me prepare for mcats... soooo if you know of any schools that doesn't have mcats as pre req... that would be great 🙂

Try the University of California post-bacc programs. I know UC Davis allows you to waive the MCAT requirement. Also UCSF has a program that is for those that are applying the first time, so obviously no MCAT requirement.

Lastly, may also consider an unofficial post-bacc program, where you enroll in a school for a non-degree earning program (e.g.: just htere to take classes). That may be cheaper, and easier to get into. Grad school is another alternative, but be careful with that, since not everyone likes research, and not every grad school lets you take upper div undergrad courses (which counts for post-bacc)...so you are stuck taking grad courses which are seperate from undergrad GPA.

So yea, i'm sure other states are the same way. Recommend going to AAMC website, use search function parameter "post-bacc" which should yield the list of all official post-bacc programs in US.

🙂

A lot of postbacs are meant for folks who have no sciences and thus don't require the MCAT, although they sometimes have upper level science tracks for those who already have the sciences. Check out the less formal programs re these. Generally it is SMPs and the like (not really "postbacs", as they are graduate) that require the MCAT.

I agree. I go to SC and none of the post-bacc'ers have taken the MCAT. However, none of them were science majors either.
