Right now I have a 3.7 gpa, I volunteer one semester 70 hrs at a local state health clinic, I do not have time for anymore volunteering and I am just going to shadow for the rest of my time in school ( my school offers shadowing as a 1 credit class) so by the time I graduate I will have 5 credits of shadowing. I will graduate Fall 2012 and Will use Spring and Summer of 2013 to work for money needed for medical school.
I am a Fl resident, female, black
I plan on taking the MCAT in january but my diagnostic test was a 5V,4B,4P do you think I have enough time to study or should I take the test next summer. I just want to go to a MD in state school.

And another thing I am getting my BA in bio and minor in sociology and psychology do u think i should get my bs in bio since it contain anatomy class and mole and cell bio.

Diagnostic tests hardly mean ****. January is still quite a ways from now and you have a lot of time to study and get a good score if you put in the effort.

Major in something you will find interesting.

Your diagnostic test doesn't mean anything. You can study and bring up those scores dramatically. However, have you completed all of the pre-reqs?

If not, wait to complete those, and focus on learning your material really well in those classes. Then tackle the MCAT.

Your GPA is great. Continue demonstrating commitment to medicine. But I think this question is better suited for the WAMC (what are my chances forum), but without an MCAT score that might make it difficult for people to comment. Might I suggest you look at the MCAT forums and discuss it there to find the advice you're seeking.

Edit: I also LOVE anatomy and cell and molec bio. If you think you'll enjoy those classes, take them. But they're not going to give you a huge advantage in medical school. Learn what you can about random interesting things to regale your patients with. They don't care how well you know molec. bio, but having a conversation is much more valuable.

Best of luck.
