Hey,

I'm going to take my first science courses this upcoming fall, physics and chem. I already have an MCAT book lying around, do you think it would be helpful for me to really delve into the book while taking the science classes even tho I'm gonna be taking them in 2 years or would it be a waste?

So I'm in Phys I this summer I (short 5 week). I try to look at some of the EK 1001 problems after I'm done with my homework. The problems aren't passage based (for physics 1001) and you can typically knock them out pretty quick.

Ideally I'd like to try to get to all the 1001 physics questions, though I think a smarter way is if there are topics you're not comfortable with then attack the relevant section in EK's 1001.

If you were taking the MCAT within the next year, I would say go for it, never hurts to get an early start. But you aren't, and unless you plan on continuously studying for the next two years, building up your MCAT know-how and test taking savvy, I would tell you to hold off. Studying haphazardly for the MCAT is a waste of time. Just concentrate on squirreling away all the facts and formulas you will learn in Physics/Chemistry this year, because you'll need them when you start studying in earnest.
