Yes.

It is a general move towards computerized testing centers for the MCAT. Also, when this occurs, I believe you will not be limited to two days out of the year for testing. 👍

I would think that the computerized version will eventually replace the paper version completely.

Please 🙄 Relax a little bit, it's not the end of the world. Computerized testing will continue to only be offered outside of the U.S. until 2006. You have plenty of time to adapt to the "new" format by the time that baby rolls around.

I think they do computerized MCATs abroad. At least I read that at some point on SDN.

So wait...as long as I take it next year or the year after I am good? Meaning if I take it next april or the april after next I won't have to deal with the computer version?

That's what I said - computerized MCAT testing is done outside of the US, and wont be offered in the US until 2006.

April 2005 - No

April 2006 - Maybe; depends on the test site/AAMC policy

Well, I took it abroad in Frankfurt last April. I have to say, the computer format is great!! It's really, really easy to use and you don't have to worry about book collection or the other testers, and I just powered through to the end. You can save a couple hours this way if you have the stamina for it.

For me, the best part is that you CAN'T write in the test book. I lose so much time messing around writing and underlining on paper books. On paper I could barely finish, but on the computer, I never was filling in last minute bubbles. I got the whole thing done on time, always. Obviously, you get scrap paper, but I think it makes you focus more on the material and you have to keep your head up, which makes me concentrate even more. Plus, if you get the real AMCAS practice tests on the computer, you can practice the computer style. This was just my experience, but I could never imagine taking it on paper now. (Not that I will!! Once is enough for a life-time.)
