I'm planning on taking my MCAT on August 27 of this year, and I'm also planning on applying this cycle. I was wondering if it was fine that I'm taking my MCAT then, or if it is too late.
You have to have a complete application (primary app, MCAT, letters of rec, secondary app, fees) in order to be considered for interviews. Until each of these components is received by schools, your application will not be evaluated.
End of August is quite late, you wouldn't be complete until around the beginning of October (assuming you submit everything else promptly). This will definitely put you at a disadvantage, although there seem to be applicants who submit late and still receive acceptances each year. But submitting this late will definitely decrease your chances and perhaps limit your options.
Ideally, you would take the MCAT sometime in May in order to submit your app early. But you definitely don't want to rush in and take the MCAT before you're ready. June is fine, maybe July, but August is definitely pushing it (in my opinion).
Oh my... You need to take the initiative to read up on the best way to apply. You should be taking the MCAT by early June if you plan on applying this cycle.
