Greetings all! I know many people have been posting stuff similar to this, but I'd like some advice on if I should retake in Aug.
(Sorry!) My April scores were definitely not great: 11V, 10B, 7P, L. If I had scored a point or two higher in PS, I probably wouldn't bother asking, but I've heard that 7s are app killers. My instinct is to take it again so I can fall more in the competitive range, but my summer is extraordinarily busy. Between commitments at work and at home, I have very little free time to study. Without that study time, I'm not sure if I can pull that PS score up. So, basically, do I have a chance in hades if I don't retake or am I going to have to fit 28 hours of stuff into my 24 hour days for the next six weeks? Anyone in a similar situation? Also, should I be worried about my pathetic 'L'? Any info would be greatly appreciated... particularly people who applied last year in similar situation...
Thanks!!!

I don't think I would worry about the L score. Many people say that the writing sample is too subjective anyways and that the ad coms don't care about it too much. Besides, your 11 in verbal should balance it out. As for the 7, that is a little harder to gauge. How is your GPA? Does that balance out your scores.

But anyhow, it seems like you are already unsure about being able to raise your score so I don't know if I would take it again. THat is really something that I think only you can answer.
I will tell you that when I took the MCAt (in August), I got a 29 and decided not to take it because I did not feel I would be able to raise my scores substantially with the schedule I had for the April MCAT. The only thing I regret about not taking it is not having a chance to get into my state schools (California); I think that was probably the main factor that prevented me from getting interviews there, but I really can't say. Basically, if you don't take the August MCAT, you'll be missing those extra brownie points you could get from a higher score. So you have to ask yourself if you are confident enough in your application to not take it again. If you aren't, you may want to take it again to add some padding to your application.
