Hey everyone!
Thankyou for your help in advance!
I will be submitting my application to a few american medical schools by Jul 17. I would be however, writing my MCAT on Spetember 10th. I'm wondering if that would be too late (and please correct me if I'm wrong) since some schools do not look at your application till they receive your mcat score?
Thanks!

Yes, that's too late. If you're taking the exam in September, I'm assuming the scores won't be sent to schools until October? You'd be significantly hurting your chances of getting any interviews at that point. If you really want to have a shot, I suggest you wait and apply next year!

Evidently, according to some posts, interviews are being offered at some schools now and it's the middle of July. How do you think being complete three months from now will look? Wait until next year. You really only want to apply once with the best application possible!

Too late for MD, fine for DO.

Hi,

I agree that that is probably too late for most schools, but I did want to let you know that the state school in my state doesn't start looking at apps until after their deadline, which is in October - so you might be okay at some schools. I'd recommend checking out some of your top choice schools admissions pages.

Hope it helps!

Thanks everyone!
I just want to confirm that schools do not look at your application until they receive your MCAT score?

Thanks Plamyra!
I thought all schools in the states were on the first come-first serve basis?

Do they interview internationals?

@gyngyn - Our state school has a really low out of state acceptance rate because their mission is to train students in the area. I believe that once in a while there are exceptions though.

I could tell by your description that this was the case...
Schools with this pattern of operation are not likely to consider OP.

Unless you will be a superlative candidate who would be happy get an acceptance to a far less selective school than they could otherwise aspire to attend, and you already have a green card or American citizenship, this is too late.
