So I finished week 2 of MCAT prep with TPR. I took the diagnostic and got a 13 combined. (5PS 3VR 5BS). I know diagnostics do not mean much but I didn't expect a 3 on verbal...

Anyways, I was constructing a schedule of when to take the exams and would like to open it up for suggestions or comments.

Since I'm in TPR's course, I have access to 20 CBTs. My test is August 17

How does this schedule look?
Week 1 - N/A
Week 2 - TPR diagnostic 1
Week 3 - TPR diagnostic 2
Week 4 - TPR diagnostic 3
Week 5 - TPR diagnostic 4
Week 6 - TPR diagnostic 5
Week 7 - TPR MCAT Demo
Week 8 - TPR practice Exam 1
Week 9 - TPR practice Exam 2 + TPR practice Exam 3
Week 10 - TPR Review Exam 1 + TPR Review Exam 2
Week 11 - AAMC 3 + AAMC 4
Week 12 - AAMC 5 + AAMC 6 + AAMC 7
Week 13 - AAMC 8 + AAMC 9 + AAMC 10
Week 14 - AAMC 11 (4 days before exam)

TPR's class ends week 12 so that should be when I am done with content review.

Would it good for me to take all those exams in the beginning even though the time could probably be better spent on content review?

Or is true when everyone says "Practice, Practice, Practice" that it's better for me to do an exam every week?

I'm taking it on August 17th too! Honestly, I wouldn't waste time with all of the diagnostics. Especially so early on in content review. If you want to do more FLs than just the AAMCs (save these for after content review) I would do it near the end of your content review.

Just what I would do.

Taking the practice exams does seem like a waste if I don't have the content review down but if I don't schedule them out like this, I don't think I can take all of them. What week towards the end should I start doubling up?

Another question - since I just took the diagnostic, should I be going over what I am missing and treating it like big review ?

I would maybe start taking them week 10 or 11. Honestly, I would skip out on the diagnostics. The last few weeks you can try to do a FL every 3 days. FL one day, then review it the day after, then a break day OR if you're like me and scared to take break days, really focus in on topics that seemed to be your weak point. Then repeat. That's sort of what I'm planning.

As for the diagnostic you just took, I would not go over it right now. It makes relearning the topics too difficult when you are jumping around in the different areas of each subject. I think for now just do practice passages on the material you cover as you go through your content review.

(PS you should join the August 17th thread! We can all stress about the days leading up to the exam and the 30 days following together )

content review is very crucial. why take all those FL's when you are not strong on the content? It will just be a waste of time, honestly. Focus on content review and practice passages/section tests for every chapter (every few chapters) of each section. Then two weeks before the actual test start taking AAMC's (or a bit earlier if you feel like it). If you will have time in between, take FL's from TPR just for practice. Good luck with your study!

I know it too late, but for future references you are suppose to study before you take a prep course. I am taking PR prep in Nov. but I paid early to receive my books early so that I can begin studying in June. That way when I go to the course in Nov. I will have completed all the workbooks and just use the practice problems online----and no I will not run out of material I also have EK 1001s and EK verbal and PR verbal accelerator.

I was wondering this before but I remember being told I did not have to study beforehand since the class will just cover everything.

I think that's a good idea. Focus more on content review and take FLs after being comfortable with the material.

So far, I have TPR and TBR but I'm barely having enough time to read/do TPR books and the Science workbook itself with the class that I do not have time to read or do problems from TBR.

What do you all think? Would it be worth it to squeeze in TBR in any little shape or form in my schedule if I can? Or should I just focus on TPR and its course material.

Hey don't worry about the diagnostic score, I got a 3 on PS lol, haven't touched physics in few years. Thankfully it is the section you can improve the most on. I am also taking the course (taking it Aug 17 too) and plan to finish all content review/practice by early July then take the FLs pretty much all through late July and early Aug (about one every 3 days).

I took my second diag through the TPR portal yesterday. How are the essays graded for those?

no forget about TBR. just focus on the course you paid for right now. i took it last summer. it is really tough to do all of the hw and stuff within the day of the lecture. you just have to work really really hard to do it. theres too much info on this forum. too many resources- TPR, kaplan, BR, EK. just focus on one of them and work hard

Don't worry about those diagnostics. They're made unrealistically difficult so that the company can say look how much we improved your score. They give you some kind of idea what you are weak on, but the scores are meaningless. I know people who scored 35s on the mcat and just to prove this point took diagnostics a few days after their mcat and got low to mid 20s on it
