Hello,

I have taken University physics I and was wondering if that will be a huge issue while prepping for the MCAT that I am planning to take in January 2020? Should I look into taking College Physics this semester or could I get by with University Physics?

Please advise.

Do you mean the textbook series titled "University Physics"? Those are definitely more than enough for MCAT prep - my school used them for our physics & engineering majors.

Otherwise not really sure what you mean?

Hi—

I meant the calc based physics which is the one I took versus the algebra based physics. Just want to make sure I don’t have to take the algebra based physics for the MCAT.

Thanks again!

haha no no you're all set - calculus-based physics covers all of the same material as algebra-based does, plus some more mathematically complicated scenarios (hence the need for calculus)

You do realize that algebra-based physics is basically just a simpler, watered-down version of calculus-based physics, right? Imagine learning Maxwell's equations but in non-calculus form. And being unable to calculate instantaneous acceleration, etc.

Algebra based physics is sufficient for both the MCAT and med school. However since you’ve already taken Calc-based physics there’s no reason to go back and take a lighter version of the same class. If you can do calc based physics you can do anything in algebra based physics. However the reserve is not true

Make sure that you take University Physics II or College Physics II since you want to be exposed to all of the concepts that you will be tested on.
