I have been in contact with one of my top schools that a retake may be best for me to guarantee admission. Everything that I have is stellar, from extracurriculars to a pretty good sGPA, but my cat score was lower than the schools avg.

I know that they are expecting a retake from me, however, other schools do not and I do not want to limit myself to a single school after sending primaries to over 2 dozen schools. I know aacomas allows me to edit my app to say that I am planning a retake, but amcas does not. What do I do about this?

If it's just for one school, realistically I'd advise against it--even if it's your top choice school unfortunately. Since it's already August, unless you know you can boost it at least 5 points, I don't think it's worth to retake it. May want to get other opinions though..

It sounds like the school has a stats problem, not you. It's always a gamble unless you know you'll get a higher score.

I agree with dextor2003. Considering the massive prep time that goes into studying for the MCAT, I would wait to see how this application cycle unfolds before I'd agree to that massive commitment again. By the way, this is for 2012-2013 cycle and not last year, right?

I have never heard of a school being so specific and personal as to request that an applicant raise their MCAT for a guaranteed admission. Do you mind telling us which school this is and your score?

sorry, i did not mean guaranteed admission, i meant that it would place me at the avg, if not, above the avg of the applicant pool.

the admissions adviser was very straight forward since i have been in contact with them for some time now and they suggested a retake to ensure a potentially better outcome for me

Oh yeah, you can check out my entire app on the MDapps profile. Sorry, I chose to ask this question in the allopathic threads because there are always more viewers, but the question is general, but this was in regards to my conversation with advising at my instate osteopathic school
