MCAT score advice needed

Hi all, so I have been studying for the MCAT, which is scheduled for me on 9/2. I just finished taking the two scored AAMC full lengths which are supposed to be the most predictive of what you will get on the real thing. I got a 510 (128/128/128/126) and a 509 (127/128/128/126). I was wondering if I should void the test and take it again next year?

My science GPA is a 3.00 and my cumulative GPA is a 3.3. This upcoming year I am doing a DIY post-bacc at a university. I am just worried that if I void I might not have a lot of time to study next year. I would be applying next cycle for DO school and one of my top choices was Touro-CA. I know that they have high MCAT average and if I don't perform better on the MCAT, I feel like I won't have a good shot at getting in because of my low GPA. My last year of undergrad had a bit of a downward trend, so I was hoping the post-bacc could fix that a bit.

Does anyone know how bad a retake of the MCAT looks? If i were to get a 510 on the MCAT and then retake for a 515, would that be a lot worse than just getting a 515 on the first attempt? Thanks in advance for the help guys!
 
If you plan on retaking a 510 in the hopes of a 515, why would you even take in the first place? It's not typical to score 5+ greater than the AAMC practice tests.

Well, I am wondering if a 510 is good enough, or if it would be a lot better for me to go for the 515. As in, is it worth it to try to shoot for a 515 over getting a 510?
 
I listened to a podcast once where the co-host once said "I have never met anyone who didn't get into medical school because he got a 510 on his MCAT, and was accepted a year later because he got something better than a 510."
 
Your MCATs are competitive for DO schools. Focus on your low science GPA.

Sorry, op. I didn't read your post properly. I thought you already took the real test. Your practice scores are competitive. Good luck with your test.

Take your mcat now. You'll need to do well on your postbacc. Med schools don't care about cumulative gpa.

I had a 510 on my last AAMC FL and ended up scoring a few points higher 10 days later. It's not impossible for you to hit your target of 515, but either way I would definitely take the exam now. I get your wanting as high a score as possible, but 510 is pretty darn good..

I also think people fall in the trap of thinking "oh if I have more time I'll definitely get a higher score." You want to take this thing while the material is fresh.

A 510 is a fine score for ANY DO school. Get the MCAT out of the way and then salvage your GPAs with a post-bac or SMP.
 
Our GPA's are very near identical and I got a 508 MCAT. I got in somewhere, so hopefully that's a boost for you haha
