Hi, I am new to SDN. My question is to individuals that have sat for Step I of the boards. I am interested in knowing if there is a correlation between Board and MCAT Scores. Also, does anyone know of studies that have been conducted in this area? I would gladly appreciate any advice from a student standpoint. Thanx.

The MCAT percentile is a general indicator of USMLE Step 1 percentile. All three sections of the MCAT have decent correlation coefficients with Step 1, but VR is the best predictor of the three, with a ~ 0.7 coefficient. Even then, it's not that great, since a strong correlation in a statistical study usually means > 0.9. That's why the MCAT is a "general" indicator, but by no means a perfect one.
