Hello all. Thanks for taking the time to read. Cutting to the chase, I was planning on taking the July 21st test. But, I am still in the high 490s on my practice test, getting extremely frustrated. To be fair, believe I did too much content review not enough practice tests. My gpa=3.3s & 3.3cum. so as you know I need to do extremely well. I am willing to study 24/7 now but, how much will it dampen my chances to postpone my test date for this cycle and take a test early August instead? If you applied later in cycle, how did it effect you? Should I just submit my application in mean time since this is the last thing waiting? Thanks!

Are you applying MD or DO? Submitting after labor day is to late for MD and submitting after thanksgiving is to late for DO.

Definitely apply DO also unless you are URM your chances at MD are very slim. Ouch, you won't really know where you stand unless you take an aamc test, but only taking two practice tests at this point is definitely rough.

URM=black female, but never the less still feel like I am in a tough spot. Are scores on aamc significantly higher?

That helps for your gpa at least. Some people score the same on the MCAT compared to next step exams however some people score significantly higher. Have you started on aamc material yet? Maybe not the practice exams but you should be starting to do the Qbanks and the likes.

If your exam is in two weeks, you should be nearly done the AAMC materials already. I'd really suggest pushing the test back. If you can't, then start AAMC materials right away and prioritize getting through all of them.

I didn't drink the "start you AAMC material early" kool-aid and REALLY REALLY REALLY wish I would have. This is my biggest regret during my prep.

Yea the AAMC materials are by far the best to use.

If I were you I'd push it back and take an AAMC FL asap. See how you do! You'll probably get a higher score than you think. Take the MCAT when you're ready for it, everything else with your app will fall into place. If you need to apply next year, then you apply next year, no biggie. You could still take the sept 9th exam (the last one this year) and be competitive for lower tier MD and all DO with a solid MCAT.

If you are URM black female, if you get 500+, you are basically in for MD schools

for DO, your gonna need a 492+, preferably something around the 495 area.

Thanks for advice, took another NS FL yesterday. Got a 501. Decided to reschedule and gonna push for higher
