Hi Everyone,

I'm planning to apply this summer and debating between taking the MCAT on April 29, May 7, or May 20.

May 20 would be my preference to give me enough time to study. But I know it's better the earlier you apply, and scores for May 20 won't get released until late June, so that seems to put me at a disadvantage. But I've also read from others that if you get verified early (i.e. sending the primary app without an MCAT score) then it's not much of a problem. What do you guys think?

if you can finish the sn2ed plan within your time frame, go for it! Also, be sure that you register as soon as possible. they fill up QUICK

If you take the May 20 exam, score release is scheduled for June 21. IIRC, June 21 is about when AMCAS submits all verified apps to school. So as long as everything else is ready to go, you won't really be that behind at all. If the extra time is going to help raise your score, then you should absolutely take it.

Thanks for sharing this tidbit.

Is there anything one can do to speed up the verification?

U can fill your app and get your transcripts verified before your mcat is on file so.. If u are verified, ur app would be sent to the school when ur MCAT scores come out.

About how long would verification take if I were to submit it after receiving scores (on June 21)? Would that be too late?

Hey guys,

I have a similar question, different scenario. I look my MCAT on 1/29 and I decided to take it over again. I would like to sign up for a prep course after the semester ends. To make a long story short, if I take the MCAT in July/August, my scores won't be released until August/September.

Would I be at a serious disadvantage?? I will have scores available when I apply in June and I'm sure my 2nd test will go a lot better. Would there still be a benefit in applying early if my scores wont be ready until August/Sept?

I think that the extent of the disadvantage probably depends on your scores all around.

My GPA wasn't incredible to begin with, so I need to get my app in asap so I can get in secondaries before everyone else.
