MCAT test date and DO schools

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Also which schools accept the September 10th and January 2012 scores? There was a sheet going around for 2011....does anyone have it for 2012 and please attach it🙂

I sat for the MCAT on what I think was the very last date last year: Sept 9th. I wouldn't recommend it at all, but there was no trouble with schools accepting the scores.

I believe a large majority of schools do accept the September MCAT. It's the January MCAT where you start to see major differences. Earlier is certainly better but a lot of schools don't start offering interview invites until after September anyway.

It kind of depends on what your GPA and projected score are to determine if the September MCAT is too late. If you have a lower GPA and/or lower projected MCAT score than it's better to apply in the summer and since you won't get your scores until october and then will still have some secondaries and whatnot you may be looking at November to December until you are complete and that's when competition is very high.

As far as the person asking about January MCAT scores, yes some schools accept them but I would not recommend doing this because you won't be complete until February or March and most schools will have their interview dates filled up or will just be interviewing for waitlist spots. However if you are put on waitlists and you want to improve your application for the following year you can take the January MCAT and send the update to the schools which may help you get off the waitlist.

I took the Sept 11th MCAT, I was accepted same cycle with sup par GPA. Got a 30 on the test so that certainly helped.

Did not submit primaries till Oct. when score came back. Secondaries late Nov./early Dec.

Not too late!
