Does anyone know that policy on taking the MCAT twice and how schools view it? Any advice would be appreciated? I was wondering whether i should take the mcat in april or august when i am more prepared I am planning on applying this year. Thanks!!

Most people that I've encountered take the MCAT twice. There is no set policy on how it is viewed, it depends on the school. Some average the scores, some only look at the highest scores. If you're interested in a particular school you could call them up and see if they can provide you with more info. If you can avoid taking it more than once that's great, it's a bear of an exam. But if you have to go for it a second time it's not the end of the world. In fact, a friend of mine took it 5 times before she finally got accepted to Albany.

I took it three times. I got in no problem with a 25 as my best score. I think that they view it as persistance.

I would definately take the MCAT in April if possible if you have already been doing preparing. There are definate advantages to taking the April MCAT. If you determine that your score is not what you would like it to be--study your behind end off and take it in August. The only thing that I would caution you on is to make sure if you take it again that you improve your score. I don't think taking it twice is bad, but dropping your score definately is.
