Physics, g-chem, o-chem, genetics, and some sort of general anatomy course. Oh, and it would be a good idea to get in a few English/humanities courses to help with the verbal section.

anatomy is not necessarily needed for the MCATs, but human physiology is.

intro. biochem is a little helpful as well.

All you *must* have to do well is the standard year of bio, orgo, genchem, and physics. Anything else is gravy, or, as my orgo instructor likes to say, spinach.

I STRONGLY recommend Intro BioChem... I hadn't taken it when I took the MCAT and when I started my BioChem class I started seeing things from my MCAT that I had been very unfamiliar with, and I realized what an advantage it would have been, also Genetics would definitely help... I mean most of us have to take these anyway, so you might as well take them b/f your MCAT

thanks striped weater...you are very helpful

By Physics, does it have to be calculus-based physics? Is general one (trig-based) good enough?

It doesn't have to be calculus-based.

Calculus based physics is a waste of time and credit hours, unless you just like that sort of thing.

Beyond the basic year of Bio, G-Chem, Orgo and Physics, I think Physiology is most important, followed by Genetics and Introductory Biochemistry.

You don't have to take all that stuff, though. Understanding the format is almost as important as understanding the content.

how about you stop being a jackass and figure something out from the previous posts... and [gasp] by yourself!

gchem
ochem
bio
physics
english
this is all you need to do well on the test.

now if you have some extra time for some more classes that could help but just not as much...
genetics
physio
biochem

emomd,

it appears that several people have tried to help you. I saw all of this:

Physics, g-chem, o-chem, genetics, and some sort of general anatomy course. then you proceded to scold everyone for not helping you. exactly what kind of help are people not giving you?

I concur with jlee. I taught for 5 years for TPR. I wouldn't recommend genetics or biochem, but an intro physio will help you on mcat and in med school. A good couple of english classes as well.

Also, learn a little respect for other posters. people are trying to help out.

and to add to this....

you may have wanted to post this in the MCAT forum, maybe if you ask politely a mod will move it for you.

Also try and do a search of the forum (using the search button at the top of the screen).

Come on guys, help this guy out, don't question him, he's questioning you!
