MCG lost all my letters of references AFTER my interview!!!!!!!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRR they just called me last thursday!!!
god, i hope this doesn't mean they are going to delay looking at my application!!!!!

Wow, thats horrible. It seems pretty uncharacterisitc of MCG, they come across as very organized.
When did you interview? It may be good news that they are at least looking at your app!
 
i interviewed in february and i think they told us decisions would be made about waitlist/rejection/acceptance in march by the latest. but i don't think they told us WHEN in march. does anybody know??

i am totally scared of my mailbox now.

I looked back at some old MCG posts from a few years ago, and it looks like most people who interviewed in Jan/Feb/March didnt hear anything until around April 7, some waitlisted people didnt even get the letter until almost May. I didnt see anyone in these threads who got acceptances, so I really dont know when those go out, although the admissions office has assured me that acceptances will be sent out with the batch in early April.

I hope we both receive good news, Bubbleyum.
 
i was waitlisted last year at the end of march...

I received a weird call from someone in financial aid yesterday. I interviewed almost three weeks ago but I went ahead and sent in my FAFSA two weeks ago, just in case. Anyways, a lady from financial aid at MCG called to confirm some information. I told her that I haven't even been accepted yet and she wouldn't offer up any information. I'm sure it's just a fluke but who knows? I'm hoping that I'll get a big package in the mail soon.
 
Fresh MCG acceptances are out today. A guy in my class got one in his mail this afternoon.

I didn't find out the postmark, but probably only a day or two max. So either Monday or Friday.

After being waitlisted last year, I interviewed again early this time around (november). I thought for sure I would immediately be accepted after both interviewers told me they would recommend that I be accepted. Now, here I am mid march, still waiting to hear from them. I am very excited about my acceptance to Tulane, but would love to hear back from MCG. If they waitlist me, I still think I would have a good shot at being pulled off the list, but I would almost rather start making plans for New Orleans, instead of playing the waiting game.

If I were interviewing you and you had a mullet and mustache like that, I would recomend your acceptance as well.

I hope it works out for you. Let me know as soon as yall hear anything. I'll do the same. I'm in Macon, so I don't know how long it takes. Not much longer than it would take to get to Savannah...

When in March did you get wailisted last year?
 
It was the very end. For some reason the 26th comes to mind, but that's just a shot in the dark.
 
MCG FINALLY got my file complete after losing my letters of rec after my interview! After one of my recommenders resent the letter, they couldnt' find it for 2 whole days so all my letters were not present in my file until LAST THURSDAY!!! I will probably never here from MCG because it is sooooo late in the game now...i am so upset and i wish they would just go ahead and accept me since they screwed up my file so bad!

I am sure that they wouldnt let their mistake hurt your chances.
 
so are you guys doing anything to keep in touch with the admissions office? have you exchanged emails with your committee representatives etc after your interview to keep following up?

i don't know if i should be doing anything. mcg doesn't tell you anything over the phone when you call... i hope they didn't forget about me. my student host told me last year she kept in touch with her interviewer over email, but i don't think i can do that either. (had some really bad interviews.) feel anxious waiting and waiting...

Yeah, I think I should get accepted too because they didn't let me in last year, and now here I am a year later... This reminds me of the email I got from Mercer when I cancelled my interview a couple days before my interview date. They wrote me a nasty email about how inconvenient it was of me to cancel last minute like that. I wanted to write them back and tell them how inconvenient it was for me to put my life on hold for a year after they didn't accept me last year. I decided against doing that, mainly because I had just recieved an acceptance from Tulane (which is why I had cancelled the interview).

why isn't there a med school at UGA???? 🙁

i didn't know u could talk to your interviewers (besides sending a thank you note)! I thought that was kind of like cheating and that it wasn't allowed...

I still keep in touch with an interviewer of mine from 2 years ago. I dont think its discouraged, its up to you to decide if it will annoy your interviewer or help your chances. Of course, it should be limited. If they give you their card with their contact information on it, it is reasonable to assume that they dont mind you emailing them.

Rumor has it that UGA and MCG are collaborating to eventually develop a med school where the navy place used to be in Normaltown in Athens. Im not sure whether it will be called UGA or not...its all under the University System of Georgia.
 
Im going to undergrad in the summer. Is MCG good. Was also wondering does Emory school of medicine have the homecourt advantage?

Not sure what you mean...Yes MCG is very good. Emory is too.
Every medical school is good and have very high standards for admissions.
 
I am currently a 4th year at MCG. Coming out of HS, I didn't know anything about MCG either. But now, I have realized that medical school is what you make of it. I had acceptances to both Emory and MCG, and now I can say that I am only 70k instead of 200k in debt. I did well on the boards and got my top choice residency. There also happens to be a guy from Emory in my upcoming intern class. I was told multiple times on the interview trail that residents who come out of MCG are much better prepared than their colleagues from "more prestigious" medical schools. So, if you come to Augusta, be prepared to work hard. It will pay off in the end. Also, our match list was very impressive this year, with many people doing residency at Emory and more competitive places.
 
I got my acceptance letter yesterday in the mail. It was postdated March 20th. I live in Atlanta.

yeah i heard this type of rumor as well, that mcg and uga might merge. as it is, uga shuttles most of their pre-meds to mcg via early decision anyways.

I interviewed in late Feb. Anybody interview around then who has heard something? Anybody know when we will hear?
